To be scared to meet MNers in real life?

Longtime lurked here who seldom posts as you all seem much wittier and wiser than me!

I notice that there are meet ups between MNers regularly. My question is, are the ones you have met really as dazzling in their charm or pithy in their wit as they would have you believe? Or (gulp) even more so?

Of course, if they are crashingly dull feel free to say so, haha. Personally I would be quite scared to meet some...too good to be true, or maybe intimidating. What are your experiences, and AIBU?

I've met two and thoroughly enjoyed it. Going to be meeting up with them both again within the next month or so! (not together, they live about 300 miles apart)

I met some MNers just before christmas a few years back. Twas like some secret convention. Women walking alone into bar, silding up to another lone woman and whispering 'Mumsnet?'

I still think I would be quite nervous. You do all come acroos as very glam!

oman I've met quite a few different MNers, some nearby and some from my post-natal thread. The're all lovely not as lovely as me of course! Doing another one next week, just think, if it does go horribly wrong, you can always change your name when you come back!
