when people don't read the thread and think they have had an original thought that has already been posted several times and been explained away?

Jack fucking Tweed can't have his curfew moved to Jade's house because she has children and his horrifically violent crime was committed against a child.

So, even though I know that it's bad form to post "ffs read the thread fgs!" I still wish people would read the fecking thread!

so. come on, AIBU?

fryalot · 27/02/2009 12:35

and yes, I know it's a thread about a thread.

as I said, bad mumsnettiquette.

I know that.

OP posts:
LucyJones · 27/02/2009 12:36

yabu to start yet another thread about Jade and Jack

MrsMerryHenry · 27/02/2009 12:37

YABU if the thread is particularly long. What do you think we do with our time all day, surf on MN?

2shoes · 27/02/2009 12:37

YANBU
YANBU
YANBU
YANBU.......

fryalot · 27/02/2009 12:38

Mrs MH: oh, of course, I was forgetting, we all obviously have real lives

OP posts:
FAQinglovely · 27/02/2009 12:38

yanbu

and just so it's not all about one thread - can I just say that the OP of the sailing across the ocean thread has come back to say that her DH has booked 2 weeks off work while she'll be away (unbeknown to the OP until last night) and that other family will probably be chipping in too. So it won't all be down to the nanny

fryalot · 27/02/2009 12:40

FAQ: now I want to go on that thread and post "have you considered asking your DH to take some time off work?"

OP posts:
laweaselmys · 27/02/2009 12:40

Ah, I thought he'd step up - my dad always worked less when my mum disappeared off on adventures.

KingCanuteIAm · 27/02/2009 12:40

The best one was the book thread, within around 10 posts it had been explained 3 times where the list came from and why there were duplicates, yet nearly every post after that asked "why is hamlet seperate from the complete works and who made this list anyway"

So YABU to do a thred about a thread, YABU if you expect eevry post to be read but YANBU to expect people to at least attempt to skim through quickly and YAdefNBU to want to scream about it, I know I do

FAQinglovely · 27/02/2009 12:41

lol Squonk.

lawe - I thought he probably would too - if he's supportive of her doing the thing in the first place would have been odd for him to not have "helped" in some way to make it easier for everyone left to the boring day to day life

2shoes · 27/02/2009 12:42

what I would like to know is why.....
on one thread a 15yr old is not a child(cos he is the victim)

but 10 yr old murderers are children.

hope that make sense.
just seems to change to suit the subject

fryalot · 27/02/2009 12:44

oh 2shoes, I know.

But don't forget the 15 year old is making it all up just to be meeeeean

OP posts:
MrsMerryHenry · 27/02/2009 12:44

Ok Squonky, I'll forgive you just this once

2shoes · 27/02/2009 12:45

pmsl and the poor little 10yr olds oh bless thay had such bad lives....>

LadyGlencoraPalliser · 27/02/2009 12:47

But KingCanute, that book thread did my head in because of all the copied and pasted lists which made it a nightmare to read. But in general YANBU with bells on Squonk. It especially bugs me when someone posts 'I have not read the whole thread, but...' on a 400-post thread that was started the previous week.

KingCanuteIAm · 27/02/2009 12:49

LGP, I just scrolled past the lists to the ones with comments either on their own or at the end of the list. I really didn't see the problem with reading the first few posts or so - which would have given all the information they needed!

2shoes · 27/02/2009 12:49

tbh I post then read if it is one where I think I need an open mind...
but not to ask a question on a not really important thread.

LadyGlencoraPalliser · 27/02/2009 12:51

I would have done that KC, but it made my eyes go funny.

KingCanuteIAm · 27/02/2009 13:10

I must have [x] immune eyes them!

qwertpoiuy · 27/02/2009 13:28

sometimes OP a thread can have hundreds of responses and it's impossible to have time to read them all. Tho I won't reply if I'm unsure whether or not a point has been posted and I couldn't be arsed haven't the time to read the thread.

qwertpoiuy · 27/02/2009 13:31

couldn't be arsed
That was meant to be struck out in my last post. Admin, WTF happened

qwertpoiuy · 27/02/2009 13:31

Stretch · 27/02/2009 13:35

If I can't be arsed to read the whole thread, I at least scroll down quickly to see what the OP has put in further updates.

YANBU!!

mrsruffallo · 27/02/2009 13:50

YABVU naughty Squonk

mrsruffallo · 27/02/2009 13:51

I don't have time to read everything, but I try to do a quick skim and not repeat past points
