To think hot drinks should be baned from toddler groups?

I am sick to death of parents just leaving them in toddlers reach! It really scares me!

You sued?

And you mean all venues.....like the cafe in the park and soft play?

I think that based upon you (horrific) experience, you may have lost a sense of proportion of the issue, which is probably quite understandable

YABU

I can understand your point OP, but if you're at a toddler group with hot drinks and you notice a parent has left a hot drink in reach of a child, wouldn't asking the offending parent to please move their drink out of harm's way suffice?

Exactly bimbo.

It is up to parents to take responsibility and not expect others to have to change because they can't do so.

Wilkos do Thermos type mugs for about 99p...lid screws on and there is a small gap for drinking out of so even if it gets tipped theres a tiny dribble of liquid coming out. These could be a reasonable alternative to all out ban.

Having said that, the toddler groups I go to (Sure Start run) dont have hot drinks, in fact they dont have any drinks for parents. After a while you dont notice, and still manage to have a chat.

I was talking to a lady who used to go to the local Surestart group and stoped going because there was no one else there. According to her on top of no drinks (hot or cold) childminders are not allowed in either is that true?

Maybe not banned, but people have to be extremely careful. I've witnessed the damage caused by a cup of hot tea and, I'll say this: it's bloody awful. The person's skin blistered and fell apart. Horrendous. It has the potential to be very, very dangerous.
Yanbu to underestimate the danger, but yabu to have them banned completely; people just have to be really careful, that's all.
