To hate the fact that parents think a 'fruit shoot' is a healthy drink for a 1 yr old?

My BIL is always shoving these horrible drinks down his children's necks. I wont let my DD of 15 months near one!

then continue to prevent your ds from having one and let yourr bil do as he pleases with his dc.

Aah but if it is the fruit shoot variety that is 100% juice one could argue that it is in fact healthy!

Whilst I agree that they are nasty my DDs have had one on occasions.

The thing is if you deprive your DS of them chances are at a party for example when he is old enough the first thing he will do will grab one if every other child is.

Fizzy drinks are horrid too but every now and again I crave one, everything in moderation.

Fruits shoots are not crack cocaine he won't be on 20 bottles of apple and blackcurrant a day at age 14 and robbing old ladies at the newsagents to buy then.

Why are fruitshoots so bad say compared to diluted squash?

Hate seems really very excessive

What's great about them is that you can reseal them once open unlike those juice bricks with a straw for example. Wouldn't have given them at 15 months though - still maintained high-minded optimism that I'd only ever let them have water!

everything in moderation is my motto, i agree wholeheartedly with sweet kitty, i do infact mention this on my profile page.

of course it is the parents decision, but one i think that is really rather stupid.
once a month at a party or out for a meal, is ok in my book, plus your kid will not crave them (the forbidden fruit)

MIL thought it was a healthy drink, with no added sugar. She was somewhat taken aback when I showed her the ingredients.

I think they taste vile, but DD1 is keen on them. She has one maybe once or twice a week, if we're out somewhere.

My two only have dilated fruit juice at home, the odd Fruit Shoot if they are out for a meal but recently were given two sports bottels from nursery which I have been filling with water, these are the new best things

Fruit Shoots are not great, but when the DCs get older and start asking for H2Os, now that is time to panic!

DS loves squash, I'm getting fed up with tesco though as its getting harder and harder to buy squash with sugar in it rather than artificial sweetners! I blame those traffic light things....

I don't know why I'm precious about it though DD is having infacol before everyfeed

I don't think a fruit shoot ever hurt anyone though, now greggs sausage rolls are another story (I burnt my mouth on one yesterday)

i think any kind of squash type drinks under 2 should be avoided, mine all drank milk or water, with squash or juice at meal times, my dentist still recommends only milk or water between meals. re tesco drinks, they very rarely have the normal high juice squach particularly apple it's all no added sugar varierties I avoid these due to the aspartamine.

Oh, I'm a dope! Yes, J2Os - sugary, high acid, but sold in glass bottles like alcopops, so have very high 'cool' factor for DD (10). Expensive as well.

We use Fruit Shoot H2Os for nefarious purposes with our DS (30 months). He thinks they're a treat as he gets them so rarely, so we use them to give him medicine such as rehydration sachets.
