Its his cat but he constantlt runs out of food for it, he doesn't change the litter tray, we have to keep the toilet window open so it can come and go making the whole kitchen freezing.

We have 3 DC and the kids don't really bother with it.

I have a 'no cat upstairs rule' which gets completely ignored, so I find cat on kids bed, my bed... babies room

Cat was sleeping on DSs pillow the other night, just inches from his face

It always sits on the kitchen side and flecks hair everywhere.

It shits in the downstairs bathroom, the room its littertray is in BUT it shits on the floor, on top of toilet rolls and up the wall no lie.

Today i found a cat hair in my butter tub and constantly find them on plates etc

and finally ... it SHIT ON MY PREGNANCY HOSPITAL BAG.

Dh likes it alot but i have enough to deal with, i have DS4, DS2 and DD 1 month and just dont feel for this cat at all

Urgh. I'd get it rehomed. But then I'm no lover of cats.

Cat flap sounds like a good idea. Can see why you're peeved if it's definitely his cat and he's not looking after it.

peggotty · 25/01/2009 20:03

Poor cat. It sounds like it's pretty pissed off living with you too.
Cat's Protection League should be able to help.
The thing about cats smothering babies or children by lying on them isn't true btw.

scifinerd · 25/01/2009 20:04

Did you agree to get it in the first place? Have you always disliked it?

theresonlyme · 25/01/2009 20:05

Let it go to someone who wants it.

Disenchanted3 · 25/01/2009 20:06

I agreed to get it on the basis he looks after it, yes.

Ive never been fond of it at all in all honesty.

I feel sorry for the moggy but Im tired of the shit and the hairs.

Oh yes meant to add, it probably poos everywhere because its litter tray needs cleaning more often. Cats like to poo somewhere clean much like us.

poor cat. You are blaming the poor moggie for making the house cold while actually you choose to leave the window open rather than get a cat flap. You are blaming him/her for shitting everywhere while admitting you don't bother to change the litter tray often enough.

Sounds like the problem here is owners who can't be bothered. Which makes re-homing an excellent idea.

Disenchanted3 · 25/01/2009 20:11

Lol, it just dont want a hole in my door.

Im not going to disagree with you on any of the points, but fact is that DH wants to keep the cat but doesnt put in the time for it, so I dont think I should when I dont want it here.

If he cared that much he would sort it out, no??

OP posts:
theresonlyme · 25/01/2009 20:12

So if he doesn't and you won't, who will?

Have it rehomed.

Disenchanted3 · 25/01/2009 20:13

But its not my cat. Its his.

im not taking responsibilty for an animal he promised to look after.

i have 3 kids to sort out.

I had my cat before I met my DH.

He would be upset for me if she died but not too fussed himself.

He feeds her, he puts her to bed every night, he pays for all her food and vets bills. He drove many mnay miles to take her to a specialist vet as I had a new baby.

She might be my cat but he does what her should.

Disenchanted3 · 25/01/2009 20:16

I do want to rehome it.

Please don't get the impession this is an abused cat

DH cuddles it all the time, it always has fresh water and food, but DH isnt good at remembering to buy it so I end up doing that too.

It has its own 'house' with scratching post and its litter does get changed but it still choses to shit NEXT to it not in it even when clean sometimes

I love cats and have one myself but there is not a cat in hells chance of me putting up with cat shit everywhere. Ring the RSPCA.

theresonlyme · 25/01/2009 20:18

I just think the cat shouldn't be left with a dirty litter tray, etc just because he doesn't want to be bothered and you want to make a point.

tiggerlovestobounce · 25/01/2009 20:18

The cat might be better off living somewhere else. If he/she is soiling all over the house like that then he/she probably isnt happy, and if you arent able to make the home envionment more comfortable for them, then they might be better off somewhere else.

expatinscotland · 25/01/2009 20:20

i love cats. and i think because of that, this one needs re-homed.

please find a no-kill shelter if you can't find another home for it.

happybeingme · 25/01/2009 20:21

I do think if there is any way forward then a catflap is the way to go because as said before - you can close the window and loose the litter tray.

How can you stop the cat going upstairs? Unless you have a door at the bottom/top of your stairs?

Cat hairs - are something you have to live with unless you are a clean freak.

I would also change your view that it is DH's cat because that is not working.

As far as the cat on work surfaces - shoo it off evertime it does it and hopefully it will get the message.

I feel your pain BTW it sounds like it is driving you nutty and with a newborn I can totally understand.

happybeingme · 25/01/2009 20:25

There was no point to my last post really as you have made up your mind, might be for the best.

Quattrocento · 25/01/2009 20:27

You have my heartfelt sympathy. I don't like cats yet am currently being infested by three. THREE. I want to tell DH that it's me or the cats ...
