Lulumama · 22/01/2009 17:13

What a mean spirited thread
is it a joke?

cornsilk · 22/01/2009 17:13

They will not stay pretty though.

NoBiggy · 22/01/2009 17:13

Because the fugly parents deserve a tiny bit of good fortune.

Marthasmama · 22/01/2009 17:13

Does it work the other way too? If so, my baby must be hideously ugly....

Lulumama · 22/01/2009 17:13

surely you find your children to be beautiful, but i bet you don;t consider yourself ugly?

harleyd · 22/01/2009 17:14

actually no, i am stunning, as are my kids and their dad

weird op

Tortington · 22/01/2009 17:15

sounds like a cod thread.

we have had something like this not so long ago.

saint2shoes · 22/01/2009 17:15

I take it the op's children are very beautiful

violethill · 22/01/2009 17:15

At the risk of being flamed, I can see where the OP is coming from.

I've seen some gorgeous children with hideous parents, and some real shockers with quite reasonable looking parents.

Isn't the gene pool a funny old thing?

MorrisZapp · 22/01/2009 17:17

Three words.

Chris.

de.

Burgh.

ScarletA · 22/01/2009 17:17

I am quite good looking, my dp is utterly gorgeous the kids... well, breathtaking is not adequate.

psychomum5 · 22/01/2009 17:18

tis not a joke........was said to me at my dance school by one of the mums

I am the OP, I just was interested to see if it was mean of her, of if I was being sensitive!!!

psychomum5 · 22/01/2009 17:18

sorry lulu for hiding behind a name........I was interested in the response before I said anything!

psychomum5 · 22/01/2009 17:19

oh, and 2shoes......yes, I have to say.....I think they are.

but don;t all parents have the most beautiful children in the world????

Isn't there a similar theory about
attractive people more likely to have girls?

Missus and I would not dismiss that theory,
my parents think it's a load of shit!

Lulumama · 22/01/2009 17:21

oh, Hi psycho!

what a nasty thing for the other mum to say.. how bizarre

is she implying you are gorgeous and your children aren't or vice versa

either way, it is uncalled for

unless she has a warped sense of humour

PlumBumMum · 22/01/2009 17:22

Was not nice of her does that mean she thinks another parent is really ugly

psychomum5 · 22/01/2009 17:23

lulu...she often tells me that my children are stunning, and how lucky we are etc etc ad infinitum.

and then this comment a couple weeks back.

it has been brewing in me, so I decided to see what the response was, but I had to admit it was me cos I hate 'trolling' for meanness and I felt this had the potential to do that.

VersdeSociete · 22/01/2009 17:24

Only a loon would say that with reference to the person she said it to.

BouncingTartan · 22/01/2009 17:24

Of course it was a horrid thing to say. NO you are not being over sensitive!

LurkerOfTheUniverse · 22/01/2009 17:25

well I consider myself unattractive , my dp is more attractive but my dd is lovely

Zaftig · 22/01/2009 17:28

It's true in my family.

I have beautiful children.

My sisters asks all the time how such plain faced people as DH and I have such lovely children. I don't take offense from her but if anyone else said it I would.

BalloonSlayer · 22/01/2009 17:29

I have noticed that the daughters of super-glamorous mothers often seem to be dressed dowdily/have unflattering haircuts.

I wondered if they saw their daughters as competition, but then realised that it was probably more likely that they themselves didn't have any memories of feeling "not pretty enough" as a child so didn't feel the need to help their daughters feel more attractive.

I am, and was, fairly fugly. And my DD is pretty but also looks a lot like me so I don't know how long it will last. I try hard to make sure she wears pretty clothes and has hair that suits her. I don't want her feeling like a nothing like I did.

FattipuffsandThinnifers · 22/01/2009 17:30

All known generations of my family are bloody gorgeous, actually.

What a crass thing for someone to say. And not even true. How did you reply?
