Your kids ARE beautiful btw psycho. I think it would go aganist nature if that statement were true. My DH was an UGLY kid, really funny looking, but is a very attractive adult. He looked like a freakish little man. Scary.

What a weird thing to say! I think my ds is gorgeous, obviously, but while I'm certainly not beautiful, I don't think I'm that ugly either.

Did you ever see that programme "Honey we're killing the kids"?

On which they aged photos of the children to show what they would look like at 40 if the parents carried on feeding them the crap diet they were currently.

Without exception they showed the parents a photo that looked . . . er . . . exactly like the [sex appropriate] parent. And the parents burst into tears.

I always thought . Why do you need a TV programme to tell you your kids are going to grow up looking like you?

Well........ I think that there is an element of truth to the statement (whether it is an insensitive comment to make or not).

Rubyrioja pretty much hits it bang on with her description that desirable traits in babies do not always look so good on an adult face. For example, some of the cutest babies and little children have huge eyes. But on adults this can often make them look 'bug eyed', with bulging eyes and odd kind of rolls of skin under them. Smaller eyed babies don't look so appealing but often smaller eyes look prettier on an adult face (esp where adult bone structure is also good i.e. prominent cheekbones etc).

So yes, i have seen many average looking adults with gorgeous children and many beautiful women with plain looking children. I expect though that the plain children of gorgeous parents will prob come into their own in their teenage years.

Am sure there was some study some while back which showed that men liked baby features in women - large wide-set eyes, full cheeks, clear skins, yadda blah. But it's certainly true that beautiful babies do not necessarily grow into beautiful adults.

I was just thinking about this today...

I saw a gorgeous looking woman with really quite an ugly baby / toddler... Whereas I'm really no model (and that's saying something) but my son draws breaths from people, and has already been contacted by 3 modeling agencies (and is signed up to one)

It's from their father though, nothing to do with me, as my DH has two other kids who are also stunning.. (My DH is gorgeous in my eyes, but isn't going to win any modeling awards IYSWIM!!!)

I wouldnt say so at all. It's all opinion, of course (beauty, eye of beholder etc), but I'd say the most gorgeous kids I know have gorgeous parents, too.

CdB's wife is not stunning but she is I suppose a pretty woman if that doesn't sound patronising, and unlike CdB has very regular features. So Rosanna inherited 90% of her mother's regular features with a bit of 'strikingness' from her father and in those proportions it has worked. She doesn't have a sister, but she could easily have a sister who was a total minger.
