to expect an apology from the mother of the child that bit my baby

My 9 month old ds was in the creche at the local Sure Start centre this morning and was bitten on the cheek by another child (aged 2). The child bit him so hard that she broke the skin and you can still see the teeth marks 3 hours later. I was very shocked and upset, as you can imagine.

Am I being unreasonable to think the child's mother should have apologised for her child's behaviour?

mean to say sorry about your baby toreen. babies and toddlers should be looked after seperately.

YABU. I apologise when my DS hits out or attacks another kid, I couldn't imagine not doing so(unless I wasn't there to witness it ofcourse, that's a bit more complicated...).

sorry I meant both, YANBU and YABU too. if you are there to witness the incident, then you are responsible (the biter's parent/guardian) to apologise but if you are handing over your child to another adult to be looked after (nursery or creche) it's really out of your control. how can you be held responsible for what your kid does when you are not around??? we can't be a fly on the wall.

My son was bitten by a little girl in his nursery when he was about 18 months. He had a perfect round imprint in his cheek from her teeth. He is now 6 and still desperately in love with her ...

mamatrio, she has mastered the art of 'treat'em mean, keep'em keen'.
