To think that some MNers don't really need to be as bloody rude as they are!

Why are some of them so rude?

I know it takes all sorts to make a world go around but really, is there any need for some people to be like they are?

I've come to the conclusion that they must spend all their time having to be nice to people in RL and find it a real strain so come on here and rip into total strangers with impunity for a bit of light relief .

LOL, some people have naturally thick skins ...

poetmum · 03/01/2009 22:59

watches from a distance, too timid to jump in. finds herself very misunderstood sometimes.

TheMoistWorldOfSeptimusQuench · 03/01/2009 23:00

I don't really care if someone turns up & says "fuck off you bunch of cunts". It's the far more subtle, nuanced stuff that gets me. Those posts written in perfectly constructed, polite English, that appear perfectly reasonable but have nasty undertones of superiority and venom. There were a few absolute masters of that passive aggressive stuff on here, but I do think the worst offenders have gone, mercifully.

KeyboardWarrior · 03/01/2009 23:00

Personally, I'd nominate Blu for quote of the week but in the current climate I somehow doubt that's the kind of image Mumsnet is trying to convey to the outside world

Desiderata · 03/01/2009 23:01

I know exactly who you mean, Moisty

TheMoistWorldOfSeptimusQuench · 03/01/2009 23:01

Oh, didn't read garlic thread

much more kindness and support than rudeness ime....

and the "some of them" of the OP....don't you mean some of us as by virtue of you posting here surely you are a MNer too?

Doodle2U · 03/01/2009 23:05

Just read the garlic thread and didn't really feel het up over one or two obvious posts - have seen much, much worse on here Gunner.

think you are being a "tad" over sensitive

TheMoistWorldOfSeptimusQuench - your name always makes me smile!

TWINSETinapeartree · 03/01/2009 23:07

I have only just realised that the OP of this thread and the garlic thread are the same person.

aww TWINSET

poetmum · 03/01/2009 23:08

Moist, please elaborate on "posts written in perfectly constructed, polite English, that appear perfectly reasonable but have nasty undertones of superiority and venom."

I'm really curious. Because that's how I fear I come across, when I think am being sincere and honest.

BTW - I can't help it. I'm a writer. I'm supposed to be good with words.

Desiderata · 03/01/2009 23:10

I was going to mention that, Twinset ..

Quattrocento · 03/01/2009 23:10

You don't come across like that at all Poetmum. I really like your posts - "so clear and unclear" was a gem.

TWINSETinapeartree · 03/01/2009 23:12

I am too nice for you lot. I am going to flounce, somewhere with avatars and fluffy polls sounds nice.

Doodle2U · 03/01/2009 23:13

I doubt it poetmum. The posts of which they speak were very unique.

I think you'd have been picked apart for it by now, if anyone felt your posts were "written in perfectly constructed, polite English, that appear perfectly reasonable but have nasty undertones of superiority and venom."

daftpunk · 03/01/2009 23:13

i'm off to bed

goodnight x

TheMoistWorldOfSeptimusQuench · 03/01/2009 23:14

Poetmum - I'm not referring to an individual (more a pack), or any post in particular, just something that I've noticed here in the past, but seems to have tailed off for now. I certainly haven't seen you doing that

Bellavita - smiling is always good

Kerry - pass the champagne, there's a love
