To think that some MNers don't really need to be as bloody rude as they are!

Why are some of them so rude?

I know it takes all sorts to make a world go around but really, is there any need for some people to be like they are?

I've come to the conclusion that they must spend all their time having to be nice to people in RL and find it a real strain so come on here and rip into total strangers with impunity for a bit of light relief .

It just makes me PMSL, as long as it's not personal, it's just the internet!

I looked at netmums the other evening. I couldn't get past the home page, it is so confusing, I gave up and came home to something, warm and comforting.

daftpunk · 03/01/2009 22:44

Someone was a bit unnessercery on the garlic thread, but not shockingly rude..
Apologies for crap spelling, so bad the spell checker can't correct it

I think its quite funny how the well known mnetters who are often rude have avoided this thread.

2shoes · 03/01/2009 22:53

just seen the other thread, pmsl

Doodle2U · 03/01/2009 22:54

So I've been called cunt and wanker on this thread.

Hassled · 03/01/2009 22:54

I think I sometimes must come across as way more forthright and blunt than I intend to - without the visual cues of RL a conversation on MN can seem quite abrupt at times. You can't convey a tone of voice.

But a full and frank exchange of views is a good thing, as far as I'm concerned.

MrsSeanBean · 03/01/2009 22:55

OP, I can see your point but I understood it was not 'the done thing' to start a thread about a thread?? That's what I was told anyway,(slapped wrists) being a newbie and all. I was a bit upset once when someone who turned out to be a very decent MNer said something that miffed me a bit (I was having a sensitive day). On reflection I felt that I had been unreasonable to start another thread and that I should have addressed the problem my sensitivity on the thread in question. Maybe it's not a general rule but only applies to me. I don't know.

I do think it's very easy to mis-interpret things when you can't see any facial expression or tone of voice etc, comments can be ambiguous.

(to underline the fact this is a friendly comment)

Oh, I would cringe and have it taken out if I moved to a house with a bidet. It just screeches "shitty arse, cheesy nob, clammy fanjo" across your bathroom, really.

MrsSeanBean · 03/01/2009 22:56

sorry partial x posts hassled, my slow typing!

Miyazaki · 03/01/2009 22:58

I presume this is the garlic thread, but you should have said so on the thread. Plus I think there is a good amount of self regulation - quite a few posters said that one poster had been overly rude. That's about as good as you're going to get gunner. Best get used to it!
