To think that some MNers don't really need to be as bloody rude as they are!

Why are some of them so rude?

I know it takes all sorts to make a world go around but really, is there any need for some people to be like they are?

I've come to the conclusion that they must spend all their time having to be nice to people in RL and find it a real strain so come on here and rip into total strangers with impunity for a bit of light relief .

Not meaning to be rude but if you don't like there is always.......netmums?

Doodle2U · 03/01/2009 22:19

That cunt looked suspiciously like it was directed at me - bitch!

notnowplease · 03/01/2009 22:19

i don't think they're rude enough now

notnowbernard · 03/01/2009 22:19

I don't ever see habitual 'rudeness' on here

Doodle2U · 03/01/2009 22:20

Maybe lower your expectations and expand your definition of rudeness. On the WWW, things can often seem rude when really, the author was just being forthright. (IME)

llareggub · 03/01/2009 22:21

I think it is difficult sometimes to get the tone right on threads. I often re-read my posts, sometimes written in a hurry with a toddler wrapped around my legs, and think to myself that I could have expressed myself more sympathetically.

Yes, sometimes people are downright rude. I saw a few last night. But you know what, in every community there are rude, nasty, ignorant people. Why would mumsnet be any different?

Bubble99 · 03/01/2009 22:22

I like a 'heated debate' but hate it when it gets personal. I agree that forthright posts can sometimes came across as rude.

I am not planning to leave for netmums because of 1 or 2 posters! As llaregub says that is life, but just as I do not understand why people are rude in RL I dont understand it on here.

Doodle i do agree about things coming aross wrong on the internet that happens to me a lot but in the cases I am thinking of people were at best thoughtless.

Doodle2U · 03/01/2009 22:25

There is no reason, on God's green earth, to ever make plans to go to Netmums, Twinset. None. Ever. Never, ever, ever.

naturalbornmum · 03/01/2009 22:25

Agree with Doodle

TWINSETinapeartree · 03/01/2009 22:26

Naturalbornmum was suggesting I go to netmums!

pointydog · 03/01/2009 22:27

I don't mind a bit of rudeness on a message board. i can deal with it.

I don't see that many people being disrespectfully rude.

southeastastra · 03/01/2009 22:28

i'm sorry if i'm rude sometimes

luv southy

TWINSETinapeartree · 03/01/2009 22:29

I agree especially of late there has been much less rudeness.

I am quite a sensitive person which is why I degegged when someone was rude to me, if you cant stand the heat and all that.

naturalbornmum · 03/01/2009 22:29

Was joking - sort of.
