.. to think it wasn't up to nursery staff to tell DD this?

Just interested in opinions really.

DD is 4.3 and last night gave me a big soppy hug and said, "I want to marry you when I grow up"

I told her that girls can't marry girls, to which she replied - "Yes they can - x at nursery says girls can marry girls and boys can marry boys"

I have a feeling I'm going to get flamed for even raising the subject - but I really don't expect the nursery to be filling a 4 year old in on these kind of details?

Some close friends who happen to be gay are getting married soon, and the only question DS(4) had was why aren't mummy and daddy getting married then. I really can't see why it's any different same sex/ hetros or whoever. A wedding's a wedding. People get married (or not!) for all sorts of different reasons. Each wedding is different, and it's a personal choice how or why, but the base is that it's a commitment and celebration between a couple of their relationship. Personally I find the nit picking over a Civil Partnership not being a marriage more than a little offensive. How can that not be prejudiced?
