My house looks like this so I am not going to talk to you anymore. Because I am better than you AND my child gets benefits.

SparklyGothKat · 22/12/2008 20:14

My parents house is council and everyone thought it was private..

I live in a HA house [shrug]

jemart · 22/12/2008 20:14

needmorecoffee, I think she was bothered because her house really wasn't Housing association. As I said many people are snobby about this sort of housing stock to the point that it has lower property values (a good thing really as this makes it easier for first time buyers to get something bigger than a shoebox, but i digress)

To automatically label the OP's house as HA was a bit insulting, it implied she lived in a cheaper less desirable area.

needmorecoffee · 22/12/2008 20:14

Nice house there Pag
I shall doff my cap when i see you of course and you can judge me. And social order will have been restored

AnarchyInAManger · 22/12/2008 20:15

Oi, SOZ - does this look far enough from aHousing Association house for you??

Its where we lived for 4 months...

spottyoldzebra · 22/12/2008 20:16

pretty good one here

OP posts:
needmorecoffee · 22/12/2008 20:16

I didn't did I? I thought I said I couldn't see why she'd be bothered if someone had thought her house was HA, even when it wasn't.
Its been a long day

ShyBaby · 22/12/2008 20:17

Lem, you make a good point...

When people swear so much I just assume they live in cough council housing..

shudder

LucyJones · 22/12/2008 20:18

why do you keep posting links of threads which just go along with your own narrow minded opinon?
so you look down on people on benefits, yes we get it

needmorecoffee · 22/12/2008 20:18

the HA house I used to live in was warm, no damp and had big rooms. The private rental had mould on the walls and broken windows and the house we now have a mortgage on has damp, poorly fitted windows and no insulation. We're on the list for a HA house ad its where I'd rather be.
Then if things break or fall off, the HA fix them. How fab is that?!

pagwatch · 22/12/2008 20:18

needmore
as long as you say nice things about my butt we will always be together as one

(I think I am placing to much expectation on your appreciation of my arse)

spottyoldzebra · 22/12/2008 20:20

jemart, thanks for talking sense.
i'm sick of this lot bullshitting about people don't get looked down on for being on benefits.

OP posts:
needmorecoffee · 22/12/2008 20:20

I saw Johhny Depps arse in front of me in Bristo, town centre once. Luckily I managed to restrain myself from reaching out.
Last week it was Gok Wans arse in front of me.

Yes, I know I'm lowering the tone but thats cos I'm on benefits

needmorecoffee · 22/12/2008 20:21

but zebra, if there are people who look dwn on benefit claimers then so what? It doesn't bother me. Why should it bother you?
Thats what I don't get.
I figure anyone who looks down on anyone isn't worth knowing and is probably an arsehole

LucyEllensmummy · 22/12/2008 20:23

people DO get looked down upon for being on benefits spotty - mostly by people like YOU

JollyPirate · 22/12/2008 20:24

er.... what is actually going on here? I've just ploughed all through this thread and am not sure what point you are trying to make in the OP.

Are you annoyed because the house looks like a HA house (it didn't actually - not for me anyway).

Or are you making a point about the judgey threads with benefit bashing?

Or have I missed the point completely?

pagwatch · 22/12/2008 20:24

spotty
Is it possible that you really just don't understand?

Occasionally people post unreasonable things ( especially in AIBU). Usually they are argued with vociferously and their unpleasant views oppsosed.

twats posters sometimes write nasty things about people on benefits. They are usually argued with and usually not terribly well regarded.

Linking to threads where such views have been posted and then opposed does not make your case that people are happily slagging others on benfits. It just makes you look as if you are too stupid to have read the threads.

And suggesting that it is bad to have someone think your house is a HA house does in fact make you seem very very stupid.

LucyEllensmummy · 22/12/2008 20:24

so, needmorecoffee - you are saying that there is a higher proportion of sexy arse in Bristol - Now THAT would push up the property prices

because people are saying

If people post saying they're claiming benefits fraudulently or that they're 'playing the system', people generally take a very dim view.

However, I've never read a thread yet where anyone who is rightfully or understandably claiming benefits has been told to "get off benefits".

OP posts:
JollyPirate · 22/12/2008 20:25

Thought the house looked nice by the way - good price too.

noonki · 22/12/2008 20:26

zebra

people get looked down upon for being black, gay, asian, poor, fat, thin, old, muslin, christian, disabled, too posh, too common and unfortunately you will be able to find many people who would back up any of those prejudges

but it doesn't make it right now does it.

noonki · 22/12/2008 20:28

i didn't understand your last post at all zebra

LucyEllensmummy · 22/12/2008 20:29

Spotty, you must be pissed - you don't appear to be able to construct a sentence - go to bed, sleep it off and come back. You'll realise that you are digging a big hiole for yourself!

PeachyBidsYouNadoligLlawen · 22/12/2008 20:29

so spotty old- you have enough cash that is something terrible happened you'd be able to get by?

you declined your entitlement to tax credits and CB then?

people do feel OK on here about genuine claimants, I know this as I am a carer and haven't yet met anyone who said they ahd an issue with that.

spottyoldzebra · 22/12/2008 20:30

here

so why is it so wrong that i should object to people thinking we are not paying our way?

funny also how people can swear and call me names, nothing gets mention but when i swear back people start getting narked.
