Well, you sound just as bad as your cousin tbh. I had a bit of empathy with you until you said that you didn't want to be thought of as being "susidised through life".

IllegallyBrunette · 22/12/2008 18:39

Oh and to be perfectly honest, yes it does lok like it could be a HA house, as alot of them are modern looking as yours is.

27 · 22/12/2008 18:40

Dont HA houses just look like houses?
So what if people think you live in a HA house? I cant see any shame in that?

nametaken · 22/12/2008 18:41

HA houses don't come with garages though do this.

loobeylou · 22/12/2008 18:42

LOTS of houses on the many many many many new estates springing up round here look like the one in your picture. whats wrong with them?

OP you obviously do look down on people who live in HA houses, or somehow think you are "better than that", or you would have no problem people thinking yours was one

2AdventSevenfoldShoes · 22/12/2008 18:44

yabu
cos it does
most of the house's on our estate look like yours.......cos they are HA(except mine cos it is bigger)

misdee · 22/12/2008 18:44

similar to my HA house

2AdventSevenfoldShoes · 22/12/2008 18:46

misdee please don't upset the op by saying that.

she is not subsidised you know

chaufleur · 22/12/2008 18:46

Not worth starting a thread over

Spend less time being irritated and more time counting your blessings instead

There's plenty out there and on here who would be grateful to have any home and especially a house, FGS, show some sense.

whoingodsnameami · 22/12/2008 18:47

The more modern HA houses look very similair to yours, and yes they are often built with garages now.

misdee · 22/12/2008 18:48

do u like mine 2shoes. i adore my new huge kitchen.

2AdventSevenfoldShoes · 22/12/2008 18:48

I do misdee
we have a lift though

psychohohohoho · 22/12/2008 18:49

but so what if she did......does it really matter???

I cannot understand why you would feel offended

spottyoldzebra · 22/12/2008 18:50

so if i was upset that someone thought i was living on benefits when i wasn't that would be different would it?

funny how people on here are always telling others get get some pride and respect and get off benefits then isn't it?

OP posts:
retiredgoth2 · 22/12/2008 18:52

....mmm. See your point.

As an aside, does this one near me look like a Council House?

...they seem to have moved the car wrecks and dogs-on-string, so maybe the area is up and coming now?

Mamazontopofsanta · 22/12/2008 18:52

im in temporary long term housing (yeah i know it makes no sense to me either) its owned by HA.
my rent is a good 20% higher than it would be if i was renting from teh private sector.

your an arse

ShyBaby · 22/12/2008 18:52

Not bad, 30 minutes before the B word was mentioned

psychohohohoho · 22/12/2008 18:54

no, people on here get pissed off with people gaining benefits fraudulently (sp??), not with the fact they they are.

you are not, you live in a completely normal looking home, and it is one persons opinion, and not one that is at all malicious (again, sp??), so why are you letting it upset you.

seriously, why?? I don't get why you care what she thinks.

This isn't about benifits though is it? There is nothing to be ashamed of by claiming benefits if you are entitled to them. If someone said to me "I'm a single parent with 2 children under 5 and collect income support" my first thought wouldn't be get some pride and get a job! Like if someone said to me "I live in a council/ha property" my first thought wouldn't be they need to get some pride and live in a 'proper' house.

2AdventSevenfoldShoes · 22/12/2008 18:59

you don't have to be on benefits to live in a HA house.
we live in one cos dd is disabled.
you are being vu

jingleMAMADIVAsbells · 22/12/2008 19:00

I live in Housing Association and I'm sorry but Im happy! I couldn't afford and at the moment wouldnt want to live in a mortgaged house nothing but trouble.

So I do apologise but it is people like you who make me feel slightly smug about falling house prices/increasing mortgages.

Obviously feel sorry for anyone affected by it but anyone who is smug enough to moan about this kind of crap deserves it. Bloody snobs

jingleMAMADIVAsbells · 22/12/2008 19:02

Oh and we pay full rent £252 a month even though we only earn just under a thousand every month and only benefit we get is child benefit and Tax credits.

Now pull your nose out of the air for 2 minutes and shove it right up your arse deary then you will be able to small the shit you are talking.

TinyTimLivesinVictorianSqualor · 22/12/2008 19:03

According to a friend of mine that worked in housing around 10% of new homes built on each estate have to be housing association so all houses built after a certain time look like housing association...

TinyTimLivesinVictorianSqualor · 22/12/2008 19:04

FWIW, I'd love to have a HA house and pay £252 pcm rather than £800.
