ouch at the thought of a Brazilian....why would women want to do that to themselfves...surely immac is a better solution than wax if one cares about these things...lol

YANBU, I have had the full lot off before going and holiday, yes it hurts but you feel so much better afterwards. I didn't have it done before giving birth, I wish I had though cos I had stiches and couldn't tidy it up afterwards. I hadn't seen the full extent of my bush for weeks cos my bump had got in the way and I didn't tend to it for the last few weeks of pregnancy. I was horrified when I saw the state of it after having DS, it looked like I was wearing a hairy apron.
My friend had hers done and the midwife and doctors bollocked her cos they said the hair was there for a reason and she could have got an infection (not sure I agree there). It must have made their job easier though surely they could see stuff better than if it was covered by a big hairy rug.

When I had a smear test the nurse said that in the last few years more people seem to be making an effort with their ladygardens and that it was nicer than if it was really hairy.

The only thing she said about waxing was it can cause ingrowing hairs, so she thought shaving or trimming was better on a more regular basis (we had a random chat about it!)

Not sure I'd have a wax when pregnant, but normally I don't find it too painful. It is a bit uncomfortable but not totally awful.

I went for a full leg wax when I as 41 weeks to cheer me up. (like you lot I thought looking better would help the whole process be more bearable.)My skin was so thin and stretched that I just bled and bled, until the beautician refused to continue, and gave me a free pedicure and manicure instead. Tidy yourself up with some scizzors and get your toes looking nice.

I am prob totally out of date seeing as thread seems to have been exhausted many hours ago, but I feel I must say this: these things are prob the worries of mums-to-be who have yet to go through weeks of can't sit down properly-ouch post birth, whose early attempts at sex after baby, are surrounded by bottles or leaking breast milk and mostly unsuccessful. Or is it just me? I too packed my make-up etc in the hospital bag but did I use it? Did I fuck.

TheSeussisgettingfat · 21/12/2008 21:56

There is the advantage that if you have brazilian then you won't get rogue pubes stuck to the bumper sanitary towel. After everything else you can do without that pain!

Donkeyswife · 21/12/2008 22:19

Not such a ridiculous question after all. I gave mine a little trim with the scissors, mirror and hubby's beard trimmer as I had some very very painful 'accidents' with maternity pads and hair wiht my first babe, so damned if that was going to happen with the second. I agree with some of the previous posts that everything is more sensitive when you're pregnant and I'm not sure you'd find a beautician who would actually do a Brazilian for fear of your waters breaking!!

Lib76 · 23/12/2008 12:52

go for it! i got mine done at 39 wks, mind you i get them done all the time so was well used to the pain! it's just nice to have a tidy lady garden i think! esp when about to have baby. i ended up with emsc and didn't have the horror of having to being shaved by the midwive as it was already done!!

Wordsmith · 23/12/2008 23:27

I remember being amazed at a friend of mine who said she was gettng her eyelashes tinted before she gave birth becuase she was concerned about her mascara running while she was in labour.

That's actually quite sensible compared to having concerns about the state of your fanjo. As many have said - hariy or nonhairy will be the least of your problems!

ScaredOfEverything · 24/12/2008 09:29

Im still thinking it over

So far have had a pedicure instead, seemed more sensible, and the fact that my feet now look less like they belong to a hobbit is surprisingly cheering...

Happy Christmas everyone! Im off shopping to see if I can shake the bubba out and remove this dilemma once and for all...
