BIL was visiting today, I'd taken dd up to be changed and had put sudocream on her face - because she is dribbing a lot and because of the cold, she has areas of dry skin on her face. It doesn't rub in well so you could see it quite clearly. BIL says; oh look it's a fancy dress party and she's come as baby P. AIBU to think this is totally out of order?!

Err, no. He was just being jokey, it's not offensive? Relax.

tiredsville · 07/12/2008 20:57

I don't know what to say!

CurlyhairedAssassin · 07/12/2008 20:57

I think it's just a plain WIERD thing to say. How strange of him.....Is he generally a bit strange?

rubyslippersisappearinginpanto · 07/12/2008 20:57

it is just plain weird

nickytinseltimes · 07/12/2008 20:58

That is horrible.
yanbu to think it is out of order.
Utterly tasteless.

OhLITTLEFISHofBethlehem · 07/12/2008 20:58

Really bad taste.

dingdongmerrilyonpie · 07/12/2008 20:58

It was a bit tasteless but maybe he just meant it as a joke but it came out wrong.

AnyFuckerForAMincePie · 07/12/2008 20:58

he sounds like a prize prick

and it is offensive, who has a sense of humour like that??

suwoodolf · 07/12/2008 20:58

Well, I would find this highly insensitive, not towards your DD, just because what happened to baby Peter just isn't funny. I think he is a fucking twat to be honest.

LucyTownsend · 07/12/2008 20:59

I would be upset that he was making that sort of comparison, why should he compare your dd to baby P?

Does he think that the worst thing that happened to Baby P was that he was smothered to death in sudocrem?

You are not BU - he was out of order and even if it was a joke its not exactly funny.

beanieb · 07/12/2008 20:59

I would have taken it as a joke, but seeing as it upset you it would appear that your BIL can hardly really know you if he wasn't aware you would find it offensive.

How well do you get on generally? Can you say something to him?

AnyFuckerForAMincePie · 07/12/2008 21:02

I would leave it tbh, just put it down to the tasteless ramblings of a complete tosser.

mysterymoniker · 07/12/2008 21:02

eeeek, I feel for him a bit - sometimes 'inappropriate' could be my middle name

Gorionine · 07/12/2008 21:18

YANBU at all

lalalonglegs · 07/12/2008 21:19

I don't think it was that bad and I certainly don't think it is worth falling out about (if there is any danger of doing that). We all make stupid jokes sometimes.

grumpalina · 07/12/2008 21:27

He's not called Russell Brand is he???

ThingOne · 07/12/2008 21:28

Sounds like a right wanker to me.

Cadelaide · 07/12/2008 21:29

He didn't think it through did he?

Ashantai · 07/12/2008 21:31

Oh my!

Definately foot in mouth disease comment there!

FriendNeedsHelp · 07/12/2008 21:31

Hmm, something tells me he doesn't have children. Or does he?

devoutsceptic · 07/12/2008 21:32

I think it's quite funny, in a blackly humorous way.

Bad taste but let it go.

prettybutterfly · 07/12/2008 21:38

Very poor taste indeed. Is he normally that crass?
