...

psychohohohoho · 04/12/2008 19:54

ok........bear in mind this is for one of her GSCE modules, so in fact it is bad in the respect that she will get a poor mark, but we do hope that her teacher will take pity......

she was told that she was to do three small deserts.

one had to be meringe (sp?), which the teacher the previous week showed them how to do.

well........DD1 chose said meringe, plus a cheese cake, chocolate covered strawberries and also a milk-free rocky road (for me).....

will continue.....

psychohohohoho · 04/12/2008 19:59

welll.......

on the way to dancing that night (this all happened on tuesday.....took her till tonight to see the funny side.......sadly I laughed as she told me)................she said how it had gone.

she seemed very confused as she was explaining about the meringe. she was asking me what she had done......

she said that she whisked the eggs and sugar, and made sure it was stiff, but when she pulled it out of the fridge and put the cream on and strawberries they all just fell thru and the eggs went 'puff' instead of stay put like she thought they should (cue me laughing hysterically).

then the cheesecake........the crushed biscuits would not hold the cream-cheese mixture.

she burnt the chocolate for the strawberries, and cannot work out why.

and the rocky road........she made it into one big ball but no-on could cut it.

can anyone work out why I was hysterical???

psychohohohoho · 04/12/2008 20:00

and yes, she did decide on four, but that was cos I was sulking about the cream in all the other desserts!

She didn't cook the meringue?

TipsyFairydifferentID · 04/12/2008 20:00

aren't you supposed to bake the meringue?

thisisyesterday · 04/12/2008 20:01

oh bless her! how on earth did she forget to cook the meringue?

and also, meringues take forever to cook, that must've been one looooooong lesson they had before??

jempurd · 04/12/2008 20:01

did she cook the meringue??

MadamDeathstarOverBethlehem · 04/12/2008 20:02

I am sitting here going "oh, poor girl" over and over again.

psychohohohoho · 04/12/2008 20:02

yup, she forgot to put the meringe into the oven!!

I asked her why she did not read the recipe, she said that the recipe is just what they need to make it, the method is how to do it, which apparently she did not have......

now, as flame said yesterday, surely if the recipe was just what they needed, it would mean that recipe books would just in fact be called 'shopping list books'!
