To think that all those generations of women who battled for equality for women have actually achieved nothing!

All that has changed is that women are now expected to go out and work and well as still being souly responsible for the vast majority of domestic stuff and childcare.

Womens lives aren't better or easier, infact they are now so complicated that half of us are so stressed and knackered we don't even remember who we are anymore.

The role of a mother is less valued by society than it has ever been when we all know that it truely is THE hardest job ever.

Why does the role of mother have to be held in esteem?

My cat sufficated hers so I'm not sure I can be compared to animals when it comes to the level of dedication, love and attention that I and other mothers show 24/7.

flixx · 02/12/2008 17:40

For everyone of us on here who has an education, good career, supportive partner etc. There are just as many who don't.

Many women are still repressed and abused on many different levels.

KatieDD "Why does the role of mother have to be held in esteem?" But why shouldn't it?

dittany "Are you going to continue the fight or are you just going to slag off women who came before?"

I have apologised several times for my poorly worded OP.

VinegarTits, How many times! My OP was badly worded. Sorry, I made the mistake of thinking that most of the women on here were intelligent, free thinking women with minds of their own but clearly I got it wrong.

Big respect to those of you who actually understood what I was talking about.

I will bow out now as I am clearly wasting my time.

And next time you open the paper and read of a women batter to death by her partner

Or a baby left to die in the streets of China just because she was a girl

Or another daughter killed by her family for 'bringing shame on them'

You can all remember how you refused to open you eyes and look around at what is really going on in the world!

bahcornsilk · 02/12/2008 17:50

Some people do 'revere' fathers. I know 2 women that do, they are both christians. Don't know if that is a coincidence or not. I think (I know) I am equal to my husband and wouldn't have it any other way. It's personal choice.

bahcornsilk · 02/12/2008 17:52

Oh for goodness sake flixx - some of us have disagreed with you - don't get your knickers in a twist about it.
