a couple of mums in the group had knitted dresses on and knee hign high heel boots.
not exactley preactical for playying with toddlers is it?

one of them had her hair all tonged curly and full make up.

i wonder how long it takes them to get ready/made up in the am.

My DD calls me yummy mummy, but what she means is get your lazy self up and make me some lunch please.

cheesesarnie · 11/11/2008 16:21

does it matter?so long as you had a good time.
some days i look a state, some days a look ok.it doesnt effect my parenting skills.

Boobalina · 11/11/2008 16:23

knitted dress - like a roll neck jumper but longer - mid thigh length. Tunic top - same thing I guess as knitted dress.

mou · 11/11/2008 16:27

I've got a gorgeous knitted dress that looks fab with leggings and boots but lol at 'woolly sack of potatoes' sunnygirl.

theinsider · 11/11/2008 16:29

Doesn't quite sound forgiving enough to make it into my wardrobe.

Looks like I'll never go to a toddler group wearing a knitted dress...

Boobalina · 11/11/2008 16:33

theinsider - aparantly they arent 'right' for toddler groups.....

VinegarTits · 11/11/2008 16:47

Well Sneekychanger, i imagine you felt dead frumpy in your jeans and trainers didnt ya? or else why would you be bothered about what some other mother was wearing

morningpaper · 11/11/2008 16:51

Not quite sure what the media has to do with it, unless they are actually vomiting in the toilet or taking speed for weight loss

pingping · 11/11/2008 16:53

PMSL VT.

WoollyDressAndHighHeelBoots · 11/11/2008 16:56

VinegarTitsInHighHeelBoots · 11/11/2008 16:59

pingping · 11/11/2008 17:00
pingping · 11/11/2008 17:00

VinegarTits · 11/11/2008 17:05

Are you supposed to play with toddlers? mine amuses himself while i file my nails/fix my makeup/tong my hair

heaven62 · 11/11/2008 17:06

I'm going to look frumpy in the morning when DS goes to school and fab in the afternoon. I don't care what other people think. I'm also going to the gym and not feel guilty that Should be playing lovely games with DS. I also need to give up MN as I should be walking out the door now to pick him up. I'm wearing a minging fleece and yukky jeans with very old sneakers

pingping · 11/11/2008 17:11

LOL VT I have trained mine to straighten my hair and put my make up on for me and give me pedicures allow going to toddlers group they have more fun making me look good.

pingping · 11/11/2008 17:13

Heaven62 you minger how dare you go out of the house looking rough dontcha know that when you come back on there be a thread on here about you saying I saw this women in a minging fleece and yukky jeans with very old sneakers picking up her DS.

LadyBuntingofCupcake · 11/11/2008 17:30

I'm loving this thread. Nowt to be ashamed of, so what if it looks 'desperate', methinks you may be a little jealous OP.

I love clothes, always have done, always will do... (BTW can anyone recommend some nice flat heeled thigh highs for the half mile walk to school?)

I would rather look narcissistic and superficial like I gave a damn than join the ranks of buggy-pushers who wear those horrible three quarter length trousers that make one stumpy of leg and huge of arse.

mawbroon · 11/11/2008 17:31

I am mostly oblivious to what other people are wearing or if they have had their hair done tbh and have no interest whatsover in hair/makeup/nails conversations.

If I do notice that somebody is very dressed up at eg toddlers, then I wouldn't neccessarily understand why they have done it, but it certainly wouldn't bother me in the slightest.

It's just not my cup of tea, but each to their own and all that.

mou · 11/11/2008 17:45

Actually, now it is not just what I wear that gets comments but the quantity of clothes I own!, but I don't take any notice any more.

I could fill a large department store and have spares, from my wardrobe.
From my favourite £1 charity shop bargain long skirt to my embarrassingly expensive jeans, I love them all and like LadyBunting, always will.

Every day is special, and if you want to, deserves to be dressed up for.

Look like a muppet in my running gear though...

Libra1975 · 11/11/2008 19:12

I hate meeting new people, I'm just very bad at it. I make sure my hair is looking ok and my make-up is done as a sort of armour, it makes me feel more confident and in control.

OP being very unreasonable but don't see why it warrants a namechange.

MrsMattie · 11/11/2008 19:14

I envy women who make the effort every day. I can rarely be bothered, but when I can I feel miles better all day.

colacubes · 11/11/2008 19:22

And why not, stuck at home most days with nothing but washing and play doh, good for them, besides how rough can it get at toddler group, that a dress and boots wouldnt be appropriate???

Me thinks you have self esteem issues, dont compare yourself to others, do your thing and let them do theirs, no great shakes really is it!!
