a couple of mums in the group had knitted dresses on and knee hign high heel boots.
not exactley preactical for playying with toddlers is it?

one of them had her hair all tonged curly and full make up.

i wonder how long it takes them to get ready/made up in the am.

it's all about wanting to be a yummy mummy

I dress that way too, people always say oh what time did you get up today

wessexgirl · 11/11/2008 14:35

Are you saying that people at your Toddler Group actually play with the children?

I am one of the only mums at mine who ever does (and I am of the knitted dress and kneeboot persuasion).

I think YABU; it is no odder than people wearing jeans to go out in the evening. People wear what makes them feel comfortable.

frazzledoldbag34 · 11/11/2008 14:37

I feel much more human if I've got nice clothes on, hair done and makeup.
Not that I'd get up hours early to achieve this, but I definitely like to make a bit of an effort. Makes me feel happier and therefore I have a nicer time!
Don't care what people think of me either!

myermay · 11/11/2008 14:38

well, i do my hair and straighten it each day and wear a bit of makeup. I love fashion and trendy clothes. I've dumped the high heals as i struggle to keep up with the kids in them. But i love knee high boots. Nothing wrong with taking pride in appearance i don't think.

I cringe when i see mums who look like they've just fallen out of bed in baggy horrible clothes and frumpy shoes, unshaped eyebrows and hairy lip! no need

Each to there own though

pagwatch · 11/11/2008 14:38

Agree with The Goat.

People get encouraged to go to groups for support and everyone says 'just go along, everyone will be fine, no one will be judging you' and then I read here and actually there are some grim mares sitting at the back going
" ooooooh look at her- what is she wearing".

Sad

onthewarpath · 11/11/2008 14:39

to the OP what does make you think that what other mums choose to wear is your buisness?

VersdeSociete · 11/11/2008 14:40

Yes, also agree with The Goat.
What about my TV idea though?

shinyshoes · 11/11/2008 14:40

I don't wear any make up, I might wear lipgloss if i'm going out. I hate the way it makes my skin feel.

I'd love to be the right shape to wear a knitted dress.

hifi · 11/11/2008 14:41

why are people so resentful because you make an effort? it takes no time in a morning to slap a bit of lipstick on.

sneekychanger · 11/11/2008 14:41

i just think they look, well a bit, silly

and a bit ott

yiou can wear a dress on the chute

its not against the law

Tillyscoutsmum · 11/11/2008 14:44

Maybe they're going on somewhere else after (meeting friends for lunch or something ?)

I went to my weight watchers meeting last week after having a hair and make up trial for my wedding. I can imagine I looked a teeny bit overdressed (don't worry, I'd taken the tiara out )

Agree with knitted dresses being very comfy and less hassle than having to match jeans and tops as well

bellavita · 11/11/2008 14:45

YABU!

Get over yourself.

sneekychanger · 11/11/2008 14:46

mp that is not a good outfit the skirts too short

saadia · 11/11/2008 14:46

To the OP YABU, I actually think it's quite healthy to put some (not necessarily a lot) of thought into your appearance.

sneekychanger · 11/11/2008 14:48

why do you think i am bu?

a mummy tries to crawl along the floor in highheels, does realise theres a toddler behind when she goes to stand up.

This has to be a windup...

Are we all back at school again?

Newsflash - mother dares to look.... fashionable (GASP!) .... attractive (shock!).... and play with kids (Horror!)

Get a fucking life (and maybe a new wardrobe?)

sneekychanger · 11/11/2008 14:49

make though is a trap. ifpeople stopped using there skin would get better then they wouldn't need to smother their face in it everyday

OP posts:
nailpolish · 11/11/2008 14:50

lol at smothering face

you obviously dont knlw anything about it

Boobalina · 11/11/2008 14:50

btw.. crocs can inflict equal damage (if not more in the fashion sense) as heels....

andiem · 11/11/2008 14:51

ffs I wear my nice dresses etc to toddler group I don't want to wear jeans every day even if they are nice ones
why do you think you can sneer at those of us who make an effort not everyone sees motherhood as an opportunity to let yourself go

Boobalina · 11/11/2008 14:52

People dont always use make up to mask, but to enhance.

This IS a big wind up - trip trap troll....

pingping · 11/11/2008 14:52

YABU! don't hate on them. I also make sure I look good when I am out and about and so people should.

PMSL boobalina I agree with you get a fucking life and a new wardrobe that is now quote of the week for me thankyou lol.

QueenofAllWildThings · 11/11/2008 14:52

Personally I envy anyone who can put together a matching, clean outfit! I usually wear some foundation as my skin is hormonally awful at the moment, and a bit of lippy, but I'm usually in jeans and a long-sleeve top and either trainers or boots. Heels would be a bit much as I walk everywhere up hill and down dale! Good for those who have the time/energy to do themselves up!
