And does this make me a miserable old quichey cliquer?

Cod, Tutter, Hunker, JV, Greeny et al.
All gone.

Even I thought last night that I might take some time off FGS.

Yes, Prufrock. You owe me heaps. Thousands, in fact .

Rhubarb · 13/10/2008 14:07

Nope, I just want you to know that I'M your best friend!

Rhubarb · 13/10/2008 14:07

Ignore her, she's clearly mad!

I'm another 'old-timer' who misses the witty, well-written, thoughtful advice that was previously here in abundance. I think the smaller size made it a much more kind and civil place too.

I am here less and less. Granted, I am at a different phase of life/parenting, but Mnet is slowing losing it's 'pull' for me. It is different now, and IMO not nearly as stimulating, supportive, wise, informative and witty. The 'safe haven' of comaraderie and laughs is more and more a 'viper's nest'.

Earlybird · 13/10/2008 15:02

slowly

Tortington · 13/10/2008 15:04

they should weed out the chavs and poor people before granting them access

lower classes bring it down

SharpMolarBear · 13/10/2008 15:11

Is no-one else bothered by the fact that you can in effect log on as someone else?

VictorianSqualorSquelchNSquirm · 13/10/2008 15:14

I don't think you can anymore SMB. Try it, try logging in as VictorianSqualor. I think the name will eb mine now.

Tortington · 13/10/2008 15:15

what do you mean

is there a way i can log on in an existing user name?

or the fact that i can use a hide my IP address thing to log in in different guises and call people hiddious things

if the former - really? can people do that

if the latter - c'est la vie

seriously if people devote this amount of time to stalking others - they are sad individuals indeed

RustyBear · 13/10/2008 15:15

No you can't PolarBear - you could then, but if you read Justine's post it says that Tech is working on stopping it. I know it sometimes took Tech a while to get round to things but I think we can assume he managed that one sometime over the last 6 years.

I wish MN was like it was when I joined in spring 2000.

It was very posh.
A thread about Yoga in Primrose Hill nearly made me give up on the site, but fascination with how the other half lived kept me here.

there were only about 20 posters, half of whom were probably justine and carrie.

londontipton · 13/10/2008 15:25

Am a relative newbie (therefore, perhaps biased) but I find some of the "old guard" stuff quite mystifying.

Tis is a secret world of mooncups, bad spelling, fanjos and norks!

Am shocked by some of the recent viciousness though....

SharpMolarBear · 13/10/2008 15:31

Phew that's a relief
just realised that was from 2002

BouncingTurtleSkulls · 13/10/2008 15:35

SMB - I've just tried it, Tech did sort that.

Good job really! I wouldn't like it if someone started posting under my normal non-holiday name!

ProfYaffle · 13/10/2008 15:40

MN is like it was when I joined.

I joined just before the Judge Flouce thing broke ......

SheikYerbouti · 13/10/2008 15:59

MN is like it was when I joined. Just with more people.

I have still never been welcomed into the inner sanctum though. I have wasted 4 years on here as well, fuckers.

SheikYerbouti · 13/10/2008 16:03

Although am getting a bit bored by MN at the mo

I'm alsoi fed up without being able to have an opition about someone/something without someone jumping down your throat saying "Donb;t judge - that mother could have had a bad day - her auntie's hairdresser's best friend's chiropodist's cleaners' gardener's cobbler's first-cousin-three-times-removed's parakeet could have just died"

londontipton · 13/10/2008 16:12

Oh SheikYerBouti, as a newbie I have always viewed you as one of the inner sanctum!

LOL at not being able to have an opinion at the moment. Saw a baby in a buggy drinking RED BULL the other day but didn't dare put it in AIBU.
