to think that men that buy Nuts, Loaded and the like are twats.....

I probably am, but I was judging one such moron flicking through the 'naked'/'lesbian'/'soap star porn shot' or whatever the main focus of whichever magazine it was and I felt like saying why not buy Razzle and be a bit more upfront about it all.

Dittany - I'm not saying that men are too intelligent to be affected, I'm saying that the men I know happen to be nice, caring guys and reading such mags hasn't affected their perception of women in any way. I can't explain it much more without introducing you to said men.

Maybe we have different ideas of what is deemed as exploitation/degradation. I don't find them particularly degrading. You do, we disagree, that's fine. I don't assume that a man who buys Nuts and thinks that Kelly Brook looks nice in her undies is a misogynist or has a need to see a woman exploited.

My DP watches pornography. I personally don't mind. If I did, he wouldn't watch it.

Going back to the OP, I just don't think we can call someone a twat, based on the fact that they might look at Loaded.

you cant argue with FACTS like that Beanieb, it's true more men use prostitutes since Loaded and FHM came out... These are real FACTS you are messing with. With like evidance and proof and stuff.

I mean i just looked at a copy of the Sun just now, and not sure i can stop myself from calling a sex chat line now....

Why should someone 'give up' pornography? It's like food, surely, if you eat too much and the wrong stuff then you should cut down but no one would expect you to 'give up'.

If a man is single and wants to pay for sex in a clean and sanitary brothel, with a woman who is consenting and receiving a good wage for it (and she's comfortable with the situation), I don't see the problem with that either?
Sorry, I don't want to stir, but I don't. Am perfectly open to reasons as to why I'm wrong though.

I agree with BeanieB about the porn. Maybe I've worked with men too long, I just don't find it offensive. But I don't think I ever have.

sorry but how in the name of god is someone choosing of their own free will to pose for the magazine, demanding a fee and furthering their career "exploitation".

I have known a lot of men (not biblically) - some of them would never read magazines like nuts - not even 'tamer' ones like FHM. For some (very few) the reason is one of principle for others magazines in general are just not their thing. Most men I know would not buy these magazines regularly but would have no qualms about reading them if they were around. Some men I know would buy them but not in the same way I buy OK or Hello (weekly) and enjoy not just the articles but the picures too. I think there are very few men who buy them every week without fail.

My OH buys them sometimes and they usually end up in the basket in the Loo along with my Q magazines, the sunday paper magazines and copies of OK. I read them on the loo as does my OH.

That was one of the things I wondered, MQ. I recognise that there may be some vulnerable women with low self esteem etc who go into the industry for some kind of approval but I think a lot of them do it because it's well paid. It's a choice anyway, not an order.

There would be no pictures to offend if there was no-one to pose for them.

Nuts and Zoo just seem tacky and vile, bit Sun reader appeal. Lots of massive breasts on the cover, school girl uniform, psuedo lesbian shots.... all a little brash, more suited to the eighties maybe with a smattering of large pin stripe and bracers.

OK I admit twats is a bit strong. I think the magazines irritate me more than anything else really, and I will admit, grudgingly that FHM and Loaded do have some funny articles

I don't agree that all men who watch/look at porn hate women, really not.

And that grief-porn stuff is just vile. YUCK.

LOL because prostitution is one of the oldest professions out, even before money as we know it women did it for goods. If you look at it as bare bones most wives who are supported by their husbands are prostituting to some extent by providing services in kind or in house!

Had a discussion with BIL the other day about pornography and what his views were in regards to magazines like FHM or even just vanity fair with nude celebs on them in comparison with top shelf titles. He also thought that men who buy lad's mags should stop pretending and just buy porn mags instead since it's all for the same purpose.

Some men may wank off to FHM as well as to other porn but I don't think it's fair or accurate to say that all men who buy things like Nuts or FHM are doing so to get off on it. Obviously some of the things they may see and read in these magazines could be arousing but most grown men don'd sit on trains, for example, reading a magazine and beating one off.

There's a big difference between watching/reading/using porn as a stimulant to aid masturbation and buying these magazines to read/look at.

Yes there is a big difference. The difference is that if you buy Loaded/ Nuts etc. you can kid yourself you're not really buying porn, porn is just part of the mixture along with cars, jokes, fashion etc. Therefore porn is normalised and made mainstream in a way it isn't in Playboy etc., which is still dirty old man territory.

that's not the difference I was talking about though. Playboy also has interesting articles, probably more than magazines like FHM. I think I would rather read playboy than FHM for the quality of articles and the style of pornographic image TBH.
