Agree with UQD. Although we call it Dysonning in this house, not hoovering (Camilla at dyson, I hope you're reading this!)

onebatmother · 01/10/2008 10:02

It wasn't an attack on disabled people, Riven, but it did use them as fodder to make a joke about non-drivers.

I shouldn't have posted it, and regret it. I apologize unreservedly to you and others who have been offended by it.

louii · 01/10/2008 10:06

Neither myself or DP can drive.

bigmouthstrikesagain · 01/10/2008 10:13

I can't drive, My parents couldn't/ can't drive, out of my siblings (6 of us) only one can drive (though my brother has just got a boat and is considering a motorcycle licence at the tender age of 42) - what a thoroughly unattractive bunch we must be!

My dh can drive and he is of course sex on legs

GodzillasBumcheek · 01/10/2008 10:14

Was it supposed to be a proper discussion? I thought it was a tongue-in-cheek bit o' shit-stirring (Cod's tongue?). Especially since there was also another thread saying the same about men who can't play at least one sport...

BTW there was definately a bit in the OP stating 'barring medical conditions' or something, so can't be pushed down the 'having a crack at disabled people' avenue.

MrsMattie · 01/10/2008 10:15

Still going on? Christ.

bigmouthstrikesagain · 01/10/2008 10:15

The boat is very very small btw - so it is unlikely to bring much kudos with the ladies.

josben · 01/10/2008 10:22

My DH can't drive and at the age of 41 has told me he will not learn - he had one test about 8 years and failed and he will not give it another try...

This is a BIG problem for me - with 3 DC's under 7 that need picking up and dropping at various activities i am more than just a little p*ssed off with the situation! Not sure what appproach to take apart from divorce! Any suggestions would be welcome!

Bigmouth, neither DH's sister or brother can drive either..! Maybe it does run in famillies or something!

josben · 01/10/2008 10:25

bigmouth - Oops, sorry - i just read my post back and it sounded a bit rude... what I meant to say was that maybe some famillies don't put a big emphasis on driving being an important thing to learn...

ahundredtimes · 01/10/2008 10:40

OMG. This thread got BETTER. How was that possible?

OBM has been reunited with a past love on a Segway.

[hugs self]

I want this in AIBU MN Classics.

NotCod · 01/10/2008 10:41

and a bti of argy bargy abtou terminology

OP posts:
largeginandtonic · 01/10/2008 10:45

My dh can't drive. To be fair he had only just stopped being excited about riding his bike when we met

I landed him with 5 children as an instant family and has been away at Sea for most of the last 2 years.

He will learn though as soon as he is in the country long enough.

onebatmother · 01/10/2008 10:45

in fairness to both Segway Bumsex Boy and I: it was 1993, "Two Princes" was top of the hit parade and I wore cut-off denims that were short enough to reveal my arse-cheeks, and CLOGS! and DMs! And went to Rage Against The Machine gigs. And I believe I thought that Pearl Jam were really profound.

He looks slightly odd in that photo though.

ahundredtimes · 01/10/2008 10:46

And UQD got properly cross too.

I think if he were on a largely male talk board he could do his short skirt hoover thread.

Some people would say 'Uhuh. I like that too' and then someone would say 'I like it when she bends over to put the dishes in the dishwasher'. Then one of the three women who post on that talkboard - for reasons not absolutely clear - could tell them it was an 'OUTRAGE' to think this way. Then finally someone would be reunited with a lost love riding bitch on a hoover.

Though I'm not sure how the talk board would work. Because they would have to actually talk to one another. Otherwise they'd just keep saying what they thought over and over because surely if everyone had understood their point of view then they wouldn't hold another one.

NotCod · 01/10/2008 10:49

no one has answered dhs question

WHY are men here?

OP posts:
GodzillasBumcheek · 01/10/2008 10:51

Men are here because otherwise what would women complain about?

ahundredtimes · 01/10/2008 10:51

Parenting tips [nods]

brimfull · 01/10/2008 10:53

weird

onebatmother · 01/10/2008 10:54

What is DH;s analysis of the situation Cod?

SaintRiven · 01/10/2008 10:54

aren't all men dependant on a car to shift thenmselves about all weedy and weak?

MrsMattie · 01/10/2008 10:54

This has been a great thread.

I'm sure Anna's leather-gloved French husband was doing pervy things to me in my dreams last night...

And I love it when UQD gets all 'Actually, I think you'll find...' about things.

brimfull · 01/10/2008 10:55

my dh didn't believe me when I told him men posted on mumsnet

NotCod · 01/10/2008 10:56

,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
yes dh said

"why do they"
adn i said cos they are weid.

OP posts:
ahundredtimes · 01/10/2008 10:56

That has been a matter much discussed Riven

brimfull · 01/10/2008 11:02

tis an unattractive trait imo
