To think mums shouldn't do drop at nursery in their pyjamas?

I know they may have been up all night with a newborn, depressed, etc etc.

But really, I do wonder when I see a flashy subaru 4x4, child immaculately dressed and the mother has an expensive coat on, over pj's. How long does it take to put a pair of jeans on ffs?

I shit you not, I once saw one of the offenders in pj's and heels.

Or is this some high fashion thing I just don't get?

I'm just jealous because I am a working Mum and so I have to get dressed to drop DD off on the way to work. I don't think that it would go down too well to turn up in the office my Jim Jams..

TrinityRhino · 11/09/2008 19:42

'You obviously don't or you would take the 0.5 seconds it takes to put on some proper clothing in the morning'

really?

you think I'm a council house, lazy woman who doesn't give a shit how stupid I look

why would I look stupid in jammie bottoms?
I'm not naked

Have you read my above posts

Its not somehting I do all the time

Do you have a heart or is it stony cold there in perfect town

kt14 · 11/09/2008 19:54

Don't personally give a flying toss what anyone wears to drop off their dc's, but think the deliberate full hair, makeup and heels with pj's look sounds a bit tragic tbh.
Can't imagine it catching on down our way (south west), must be a weird regional quirk. Shame, as it would give me some amusement in the morning.

Ronaldinhio · 11/09/2008 19:57

Depends if they are organic cotton pjs or not

queenbea · 11/09/2008 20:00

Its the fashion I believe. In NY last year loads of people were wearing PJs all the time. They have to be traditional striped or checked type apparently rather than comedy or sophisticated. I am getting this from my SIL who is in the swim.

kt14 · 11/09/2008 20:02

Blimey, will have to look out for this new trend in Grazia..

Geepers · 11/09/2008 20:13

TR, I don't need to be stony cold to think that women who go out in pajamas look stupid. You look stupid when you do the school run in your bed clothes, end of. If I saw you I would stare and make assumptions.

The fact that you don't have many clothes and can't be arsed to wash them just reaffirms what I believe about pajama-clad grown women in public.

CostaRicanCod · 11/09/2008 20:16

love that " in the swim"
lovely!

Wearing pjyamas out of the house has been a thing where I live for years. It's generally teenage girls though and when they are going places not on 'display' - so down to the chippy etc. You would always see a few if you went to Blockbusters to get a video. However....

...new additional trend in similar vein...

going out in CURLERS. The really oversized ones. Saw a girl buying shoes in Office with them in at the weekend, and tonight there were two girls in Asda with them in. Didn't clock whether they also had pyjamas on though.

TrinityRhino · 12/09/2008 09:56

geepers lol

you look stupid on here caring so much about what I'm wearing

I will step away from you now as you are annoying me immmensely

feel freee to carry on judging people and not seeming to have a grip on reality

can't wait to see how you feel if you get judged..

see ya, wouldn't wanna be ya

2beornot2be · 12/09/2008 10:25

LOL So Pj's war continues....

I saw 2 people in Pj's this morning on my way to work I walk past a school one of them was wearing pink fluffy slippers with sexy on them lol very trendy.

Please bare in mind I live in London and its very busy where I live I don't think these women gave a toss what people thought as they where rushing there kids up the street to get them to school.

TrintyRhino I think we should do an Offical Pj's school dropoff day and take pics of us all in Pj's dropping the Kids off and post them on mumsnet

TrinityRhino · 12/09/2008 11:19

I'm up for that 2beornot2be

stleger · 12/09/2008 11:21

My boss (male, 47, plump, just become a 'school mum') is considering doing school run in pjs.

2beornot2be · 12/09/2008 11:30

Cool we should organise a day and see how many other Pj wearing mums would be up for it.

Stleger lol at your boss

catepilarr · 12/09/2008 11:42

'But it is dirty isn't it? I mean they are going out without having a shower - unwashed by definition.'- Quattrocento - so people who shower/bath at night are dirty in your eyes??!

btw i am amazed by some people who are obsessed wiht showering yet they walk in outside shoes in their home

DaphneMoon · 12/09/2008 12:02

PMSL at the first few pages of this post, all bragging about the chelsea tractors 4x4's. I have Peugeot 207 and what's more it does 50 to the gallon and costs me £35 a year to tax and I can park it in the tiniest of spaces that the 4x4 drivers have to drive past! Think it's a bit strange not having the time to put jeans on what does it take 30 seconds? I go to school every day with make-up on and hair done always have done. Jeans some days, dress up others. I shower at night and only shower in the morning if DP and I have been getting squelchy in the night

Bumperlicious · 12/09/2008 12:10

I'm still stunned at the "council house, lazy housewife" comment, how rude!

So, can I just take this in a slightly different direction and ask if you don't shower/bath every day does that make you dirty? (Hypothetically of course )

Themasterandmargaritas · 12/09/2008 12:17

Can I ask and it may be a stupid question, but is it not quite cold to go out wearing pjs, coat or no coat? Certainly the ones I wear (which is not often it has to be said ) are not exactly substantial.
