To think mums shouldn't do drop at nursery in their pyjamas?

I know they may have been up all night with a newborn, depressed, etc etc.

But really, I do wonder when I see a flashy subaru 4x4, child immaculately dressed and the mother has an expensive coat on, over pj's. How long does it take to put a pair of jeans on ffs?

I shit you not, I once saw one of the offenders in pj's and heels.

Or is this some high fashion thing I just don't get?

is this the right place to report in that I saw a mum doing the afternoon school run in pjs and slippers

2beornot2be · 12/09/2008 16:13

TotalChaos · 12/09/2008 16:18

2beornot2be · 12/09/2008 16:19

LittleBella · 12/09/2008 16:32

Write a poem about it and stick it on her windscreen.

2beornot2be · 12/09/2008 16:34

HA HA HA HA HA LittleBella that was well funny ha ha ha how could it go

jesuswhatnext · 12/09/2008 16:43

hello 2be.... we meet again! i do know of ONE particular mumnetter who would NEVER do school run in pjs, you know, the one that gets up at stupid o'clock to make extrordinary lunch boxes

me, i don't leave the house till jezzer kyle has finished!

SimpleAsABC · 12/09/2008 16:49

I love my pyjamas... and have been known to go visiting in them... ie have had bath, a friend in need phones and so I'll pull on my uggs, a cosy jacket and jump in my car.

Upon getting home tho, I'd probably change my jammies (I'm about 4ft nothing, therefore the end of my pyjama legs are ALWAYS soaking.. I won't tuck them in... But that's another thread).

Am I a terrible person?

LittleMyDancing · 12/09/2008 16:50

am very confused by this

is the objection:

  • that it looks stupid? in which case lots of fashions look stupid, imho. So what?
  • that it's 'dirty'? So how is sticking on a pair of jeans without washing any different?

or what?

If I'm not working, I definitely have an order of priority for getting me and DS out in the morning on time for playgroup/the park etc:

  • DS has a clean nappy on
  • DS has had breakfast
  • I have had breakfast
  • we have both brushed teeth/washed faces
  • DS is dressed
  • I am dressed
  • I am showered
  • I have brushed my hair

(this is not the order I do things in you understand - but the order of importance)

Sometimes the last three get a bit skimped. So what? DS is clean and fed, and sometimes dressed in entirely clean clothes.

If I'm working that day, it's a completely different kettle of fish.

Jesuswhatnext R u sure your not my Mum??? LOL Be careful what your say on this one people may eat you for not even bothering with the school run least these Mums put there Pj's on to go lol. I wish I could watch Jezzer Kyle I have to wait for the afternoon shows on itv2 unless I phone in sick.

O there is a better thread ummm something to do with sticking notes on cars very funny some crazy people on mumsnet today

2beornot2be · 12/09/2008 16:55

Ugg boots and Pjs are the ones thinks to about when I walked to the shop the other day :-/ My local shop keeper must think I am nuts sometime go in there in the night b4 clothes with make all over my face not hot.

LittleMyDancing I don't think OP knows the answer as thats been everyones arguement what difference does it make if u dont wash and put jeans on or Pj's on

The answer would in fact be that people wouldnt know u didnt have a shower if ur dressed but may assume that if ur in Pj's you have rolled out of bed and not bothered to wash. Not that it affects there life but obv it bothers them Weirdo's

don't worry 2be.. am not really a 'lazy, council house slattern' to coin a phrase

i have just been and a bit by mumsnet today!

bloody hell, there are some smug, judgy old bags about today! i would write a poem about my feelings but must run (have to go give dcs money for a nutrious kfc bargain bucket)

BitOfFun · 12/09/2008 17:00

Have consulted my 12 yr old dd on this topic and she said "God NO - your kids would be scarred for life if your mum turned up in her pajamas, and you'd be bullied like mad".

But that might just be because my pajamas are a bit scraggy-looking

LynetteScavo · 12/09/2008 17:03

I've just picked up from football in my PJ's (well yoga type stuff and Crocs) I say yoga type stuff, cos I dont' actually do yoga.

I'm hoping non of the same mums will be at Tye Kwon Doe (or however you spell it) in the morning, when I'm wearing the same stuff.

Dirty? Me?

2beornot2be · 12/09/2008 17:04

LOL LOL I believe you JWN lol at council house slattern I do wonder who watches Mr JK when most of his guests are his viewing audience they all look the same and where do these people live?

Mumsnet has been very good today and yes some judgy people on here LOL at the poem maybe next time take care.

Bitoffun I am sure your DD is in secondary school? I would not wear my Pj's there but to be honest I would not drop my DC's off at Secondary school or at least not get out of the car

LittleBella · 12/09/2008 17:08

Bloody hell I've just read Geepers comment about council houses. I'm staggered that such vile snobbery still exists. What a nasty, sneering attitude. Vile.

happymummy72 · 12/09/2008 17:15

Why should we judge!
Do you have all the facts, i belive in each to there own and do what suits you, i'v even driven to pick up DP in dressing gown and slippers with my hair still wet from shower is that wrong of me?

2beornot2be · 12/09/2008 17:18

Happymummy72 people judge to better themselves... Only god shall judge lol and if he condems u to hell for taking ur child to school in ur Pj's please let us all know so we can be sin free
