To think mums shouldn't do drop at nursery in their pyjamas?

I know they may have been up all night with a newborn, depressed, etc etc.

But really, I do wonder when I see a flashy subaru 4x4, child immaculately dressed and the mother has an expensive coat on, over pj's. How long does it take to put a pair of jeans on ffs?

I shit you not, I once saw one of the offenders in pj's and heels.

Or is this some high fashion thing I just don't get?

I have retired from running too
I tried it....once but my knees didn't speak to me for a week so I gave up

DrNortherner · 11/09/2008 14:31

Do sweaty betty do real running stuff? I thought it was all poncy yoga pants and stuff?

TrinityRhino · 11/09/2008 14:31

need to pick dd1 and 2 up soon

Overmydeadbody · 11/09/2008 14:41

no idea DrNorthener, but I guess that's where people go to look good in sports gear?

Trinity, it was my knees that finally gave up after I abused them and stop me running now. Not that I miss it of course!

Does anyone remember the thread on children being dropped off at nursery in PJ? Many shocked people on there. A couple of years on and this is now acceptable for grown-ups. How times have changed

marmadukescarlet · 11/09/2008 14:51

I actually feel worse on my drop off when I see really beautifully turned out mother's with young children who have quite obviously got themselves ready and not even had their hair brushed.

My children come first in the morning, I go walking/gym after school run most days so do not bother with myself until later.

Alas our hot gardener has gone back to Ukraine and has been replaced by a local, who looks about 90, and has no teeth. So no drooling over or hot sex with man in vegetable patch. Unless I develop geriatric fantasies.

I am just going to pick up the DDs and their friend from school in the 4x4 and would like to report that I am now fully dressed and clean and am even sporting some eye make up and lip gloss.

The house, however, is a tip.

unknownrebelbang · 11/09/2008 16:15

Can't say I give a toss what other women wear on the school/nursery run.

CostaRicanCod · 11/09/2008 16:15

hahaha have jiust seen one in very discreet pjs at school
she is a teenaged mum though so fair enouhg

Megglevache · 11/09/2008 16:46

how discreet?

Sycamoretree · 11/09/2008 16:51

Yes, not that it means you can't discuss it, OF COURSE but there have been threads in the past, which you may find amusing and informative to look up

TrinityRhino · 11/09/2008 17:42

how do you wear jammies discreetly??

was she so well covered over tham that you had to yank her coat off her to check?

lollipopmother · 11/09/2008 17:49

HA! On the days I have the car I drop DP at the park and ride wearing my PJs and dressing gown, but it is 06:30 and I'm returning to bed afterwards. I'm not sure I could do a school run!

Mind you, I have gone to the corner shop in my PJ bottoms once, looked at DP and found him not only in his PJs but also carrying a cup of tea (we were both hungover, possibly still pissed??!)

TrinityRhino · 11/09/2008 17:53

carrying a cup of tea....roffle

fuzzywuzzy · 11/09/2008 17:53

Makes me glad I wear a hijab, and an abaya, sometimes in the madness that is the morning rush I can barely cling to the remnants of may sanity let alone get dd dressed, fed, pack lunch ready and out of the door on time, forget about me!
I've been known to walk out in my PJ's with bed hair, then after the school run I take my time getting dressed and ready for work in peace.

On the other hand I dont have a flash 4x4 if I did of course I wouldn't dream of turning up on the school run in PJ's, expensive coat, and jimmy choos....no way, when I'm rich I'm sending the nanny on the school run.........

daftpunk · 11/09/2008 18:02

i must confess to wearing my super women top to school which is actually my pyjama top, but hey,..... life on the edge and all that..

TrinityRhino · 11/09/2008 18:21

I'm going to go and buy sparkly pink pj's and fluffy slippers especially for the school run

ForeverOptimistic · 11/09/2008 18:25

It is attention seeking behaviour. I saw a quite well to do woman wearing her pj's and dressing gown recently but she had on full make up and had blow dryed her hair.

TrinityRhino · 11/09/2008 18:28

I would like you to rephrase that please forever

CostaRicanCod · 11/09/2008 18:29

well ti wasnt totally sure if they were
then i htought of oyu lot and JUDGED

they were kind of a cross between pjs and an odd pink tracksuit

ForeverOptimistic · 11/09/2008 18:31

I recently saw a woman who looked quite well to do but was wearing pj's and dressing gown. She had had the time to blow dry her hair and put on full make up. I put it down to attention seeking behaviour.

Is this what you meant?

Geepers · 11/09/2008 18:33

Anyone who does the school run in pajamas deserves to be judged as lazy and slovenly.

How ridiculous and tacky and chavvy to go out in public, where you KNOW you are going to be seen, wearing bed clothes.

Bizzarre and ridiculous.

Quattrocento · 11/09/2008 18:34

Oh this is a wohm-sahm thing actually. if you wohm and go to work after doing the school run, you will be dressed for work. You are unlikely to be able to turn up to work in your pjs (unless you work in the oldest profession of course).

Jux · 11/09/2008 18:34

I'm sure I remember my mum doing the school run in her nightie once!
