To be annoyed that my daughter was given cake and sweets in a party bag?

Last week dd went to a party and when she came home she had the usual party bag. However, on close inspection i noticed that a piece of cake and some sweets had also been put in it.

I of course removed the offending items, but i am annoyed that the host of the party gave them to her in the first place. I always give strict instructions that she is not allowed any kind of junk food when going to parties.

Ibu?

Sad thing is, they may well be a troll, but it could also so easily be a genuine complaint!! Pathetic, if so.

yum yum

wotulookinat · 13/08/2008 14:01

If the child was given the 'usual' party bag, then I would expect it to contain something edible at least.

I'd give him one, if I was drunk.

Dalrymps · 13/08/2008 14:06

TenaciousG just noticed your comment whilst I was lurking.
No YANBU to quite fancy Jack Black, i'll fight ya for him.

Quattrocento · 13/08/2008 14:06

Huh?

I mean of course there are parties where parents give lots of Improving Books as party gifts, instead of rubbishy toys. But there's always a slice of birthday cake in a party bag, and usually a chocolate bar as well.

Dalrymps · 13/08/2008 14:07

I saw him in concert ner ner

tori32 · 13/08/2008 14:08

LOL! PMSL at the OP and Custy!!! Yes I too always add some yummy carrot sticks, rice cakes (or are those cakes banned?) and some lovely cucumber in mine!

WARNING PARTIES ARE HAZARDOUS TO HEALTH BANNER OVER THE ENTRANCE!!LOL FGS

Hopefully this is a trollpost, rather then one for real...because that would be so so sad for the Kid....

MrsBates · 13/08/2008 14:16

Can I ask a quick question? What is a troll? Is it someone like a journalist doing a quick canvas of opinion while masquerading as a normal user or is it someone trying to start a fight? Seen it mentioned but wasn't sure.

When I was little all we got was a bit of cake wrapped in a tissue - and maybe a balloon. We'd have all starved to death if our mothers had confiscated the provisions, if it wasn't for the iced gems stashed in our fists.

MrsBates · 13/08/2008 14:16

Oh - Jack Black - yes indeed.

What the OP probably doesn't realise is that there are much more 'healthy' foods that are higher in fat than cake and chocolate. I wonder if her child has ever had a chip? Roast potato? If she isn't a troll that is

tori32 · 13/08/2008 14:20

MrsBates- Troll- a poster who posts a fictitious rant in the intention of winding people up because it is so outragiously ridiculous

edam · 13/08/2008 14:26

There are lots of legitimate MNers who are journalists, you know. Including me. And I can't really see what the point would be of starting a pretend thread in order to canvass opinion.

tiredemma · 13/08/2008 14:26

Ds had a party bag with hard boiled sweets in.

beat that

MrsBates · 13/08/2008 14:30

Thanks for the explanation. Read the official description. What a bizarre way to spend your time. Littlelapin - do you think we might know each other in the real world or are you trying to find a husband?

I think the OP is lucky her dd gets invited to parties, with demands like that.

tiredemma · 13/08/2008 14:31

Damn. You win TG.

You'd think they could at least have washed the heroin. It was for children after all.
