To think my brothers girlfriend is just bloody weird?

Went to visit my brother at the weekend with DH and DC.
My brothers girlfriend stayed in the bedroom the whole time,never even came to say hello.
I asked my brother if she was ill or something,he said no, then when i went up to the loo he said to say hello through the door as she was up.
Did this and she said hi back and muttered something about me not wanting to see her today as she had no makeup on and hadnt done her hair...
Just thought it was really rude and a bit strange,theres no history of bad feeling there or anything,we have always got on fine but she is VERY vain,spends a fortune on her looks etc .My mum says she has done this before to her too.
We were there an hour or so so if she had been THAT bothered surely she could have stuck a bit of lippy on...

I dyed my hair on Saturday night - it should have turned out dark brown instead it went black. I wouldn't have wanted to see anyone.

Maybe she had done something like that?

wowsers! maybe she's bleached her tache and it burned her lip!

I'd give her the benefit of the doubt if you normally get along well.
Maybe they'd had a row and she had puffy eyes?
Maybe she wasnt feeling great and wanted to lie down?
Maybe she just hadnt got up yet and didnt want to be trekking to the shower etc while you were there so just stayed in bed?

when dh and i first got together i was bit scared of his family-all turned out to be lovely but i didnt know and was too shy to find out

i think just shy and not up properly

similarly im sure my bfs flatmates think i am weird

i am either in his room or in nthe bathroom

they are shy and so am i we sort of skitter around each other

i did go in the sitting room a few times to watch footie but otherwise we don't really mix

Bloody rude if you ask me! Even if she had just got up, would it have been the end of the world to pop downstairs in her PJ's and say hello! She could then say, I'm off to have a shower and then not come back down, would have been a lot more polite. I bet she is very young?

Maybe she is just shy?

Sounds like she might have BDD (I think thats the term, body dysmorphic disorder) where the sufferer believes themselves to be ugly

I'd cut her some slack, might be odd behaviour but I bet there is a reason behind it

maybe shy,maybe doesnt like children,maybe thought it was politer to stay out of the way,maybe just didnt want too.is it new relationship?

I hate it when people do that and I'm in PJ's with bed hair on a Sunday morning. I'll call hello to visiors down the stairs, then get into the shower, pissed of my lounge morning has been interupted.

If she knew you were comming, it's a bit weird.

Maybe she was chained to the bed and they'd lost the key but were too embarrassed to tell you

Not really, if she and your db are having problems, she could have been hiding her puffy eyes. Often when visitors are due to come, that's when dh and I row because I'm trying to clean the house and make sure that we've everything in whilst he just watches telly and does nothing constructive. Issues that are buried deep also often resurface when you are put under pressure by things such as your partner's family visiting.

Your db could have suggested you say hello as a way of tempting her down.

I would be frank with your brother and ask what is wrong. Otherwise these rumours will spread about this poor girl throughout your family and none of it may be true.

The only time I have done that was when I had just come out of hospital having had a laparoscopy to investigate for infertility. I could hardly walk and for some reason did not want to tell anyone I'd had the procedure. So I lay low and made excuses to avoid seeing anyone until I could stand up straight.

Yes but surely you wouln't invite family to stay just after coming out of hospital?

i reckon she thought you were visiting him and she didnt really feel that keen to socialise

combination of shyness and lack of interest and she thought you wouldnt be paying more than a flying visit

or she was annoyed as you interrupted her time with her bf and hoped you would leave quickly if she was obviously in the bedroom

She is 30 and they have been together about 6 years now.
She knew we were coming so had plenty of time to get ready if she felt the need.
Maybe she had had some kind of cosmetic accident but my mum did say she has done this before.
She is a teacher and doesnt strike me as particularly shy.
We have had conversations in the past about children/labour etc and she has said she couldnt stand the pain,wouldnt like the effects on her body etc but has always been v sweet with my children in the past.
Maybe she does have that body dysmorphic disorder -feel bad now.

Quite possibly then a huge row with your db beforehand. You do need to ask your db and quash the rumours. I can't face visitors just after a row either, I'm shit at pretending everything is ok when it obviously isn't.

I did not invite them, they called in on the day as they were passing Bonnibaby, did your DB expect your visit? I don't expect his girlfriend was in the same situation as me, just that sometimes there are explanations that would never spring to mind.
