Are you sure the boots you linked to aren't johdpur boots (can't farking spell the word - the boots you ride horses in).

Heated · 06/07/2008 22:47

I like these for dh

babytime · 06/07/2008 22:53

he's obviously got style and he and millions cant be wrong - you sound like your taste is older than you.

you should try them out they come in every colour and look great with jeans and skirts!

soyabean · 06/07/2008 22:54

My dp wears them and hs 47

wigparty · 06/07/2008 23:04

Food for thought though: When young, I thought when we hit 'granny' age, we'd all suddently revert to tight perms and flower-print dresses. Will we grow old wearing what we were comfortable wearing in our hay days? Bring it on if that's the case: I will be a granny happy in a pair of baggy jeans, dunlop sneakers etc. etc. I can't wait

wigparty · 06/07/2008 23:04

I speak as a 36 year old, not a 16 year old!

expatinscotland · 06/07/2008 23:06

i love Dunlops! they're comfy, too.

wigparty · 06/07/2008 23:09

Expat, I've gone through pair after pair for too many years. I used to get them in the 'children's sports department' and paid bugger all, until they turned cool. Then I had to pay double to get them from Office etc. Now I have to get them from bizarre sites on-line as fashion has now dictated they're not all that any more!

Fashion is a weird, fickle beast

handlemecarefully · 06/07/2008 23:14

I take your point. I really do. I'm 40 so no spring chicken but regretfully accept that there are some items of appareil that it is inadvisable to wear, unless I want to look like a total and utter chump. Converse trainers at 42 - generally not cool

wigparty · 06/07/2008 23:18

handlemecarefully [I'm now wailing], you're so wrong. If you're happy with what you're wearing, why should you be pressured? Who's bloody dictating what you should be wearing?

If DP came downstairs tomorrow in a leather thong and harness, I'd have to say something, but a pair of converse ffs.

wigparty · 06/07/2008 23:19
  • but concede I may be now pressuring you with my point of view, equally wrong
handlemecarefully · 06/07/2008 23:29

I'm never wrong

handlemecarefully · 06/07/2008 23:30

Well perhaps sometimes....

Cammelia · 07/07/2008 09:47

Wigparty, but then again, what is "granny age"

I, for example, became a granny at 35

And have worn converse all my life (although I leave the brightly coloured converse hi tops to dd2) what's wrong with all-black converse low tops? (apart from the price)

They remind me of the black plimmies I used to wear for PE at infant school in the 1960's

Anna8888 · 07/07/2008 09:48

We all wear Converse in our family, from DD 3 through to DP 43. Looks fine. They are hardly innovative or high fashion.

wigparty · 07/07/2008 10:40

Fantastic Cammelia!
'Granny age' was my young self's stereotyped age (about 60) at which we became grannies, donned a flowery frock and hot-footed it down to the hairdressers for a blue rinse and set

Potterhead113 · 29/07/2017 12:34

Your husband is 42, he can wear what he damn chooses

JacquesHammer · 29/07/2017 12:40

YABVU to try and dictate what your partner wears

My dad is in his 70s and wears converse.
