Well?

They're so plain - I would descibe them as canvas pumps - what's so offensive/age specific about that? My dh is 45 and looks far better in classics like converse and his new straight leg levis than overtly trendy stuff or the rugby shirt/fleece combos that his fellow 40+ male teachers favour.

lilolilmanchester · 06/07/2008 19:44

so what would you like those of us who are 40+ to wear then Gordon???

WilfSell · 06/07/2008 19:45

Don't. Be. Ridiculous. If my mum (65) turned up wearing converse and a flowery summer dress, or a really cool suit with some funky jewellery, I would only bat an eye to comment on how VERY fabulous she looked.

She wouldn't though.

Break out. You're a long time dead...

Pollyanna · 06/07/2008 19:46

me and my dh wear them. Alot of the parents here wear them - I didn't realise they were trying too hard (the Bright Young Things in Brighton don't seem to wear them anyway...)

DANCESwithLordPottingtonSmythe · 06/07/2008 19:46

Will - appreciate the sentiment but then again there is a grandma who collects at our school who was wearing a maxi-dress the other day. Not cool I tell you. Not cool.

MrsJamin · 06/07/2008 19:47

you are being totally unreasonable, and no I'm not stalking you, I knew it was you from the thread title! give him a break.

GordontheGopher · 06/07/2008 19:47

I want him to be trendy... but more sexy trendy iyswim.

GordontheGopher · 06/07/2008 19:48

MrsJamin it is only because you and your dh wear them also!

naswm He has a pair without laces that he only wears in the house. Then others - with laces - that he "allows" to get dirty. He's a very strange man

shreddies · 06/07/2008 19:50

Yabu, I love converse, and don't think 42 is really very old

LynetteScavo · 06/07/2008 19:51

Just be happy he's not wearing crocs.

chonky · 06/07/2008 19:51

My dad still wears converse at approaching 60. YABU.

naswm · 06/07/2008 19:54

squeaver - we call them slippers

mamalovesmojitos · 06/07/2008 19:54

YABU he probably looks cool. agree with lynette lol.

GordontheGopher · 06/07/2008 19:55

Much prefer this kind of thing.

Converse are great, good for him! I'm a devout dunlop [insert colour] flash gal but would wear converse if they made them for the wider foot!

BouncingTurtle · 06/07/2008 19:55

YABU - if he finds them comfy, let him be! What are you worried about?

Those boots - sorry - are not cool. they may be to your taste but converse are MUCH cooler.

wigparty · 06/07/2008 19:56

Am now interested, what should he be wearing to look 'sexy trendy' ?

well i'm 37 and love mine

dh (39) has asked me to get him some the same (laceless)

Heathcliffscathy · 06/07/2008 19:58

YAB totally unreasonable.

what do you want plus fours?

black converse ox are a classic beyond fashion shoe and he'll be fine to wear them when he's 62!

Heathcliffscathy · 06/07/2008 19:59

oh god just see what you want him in: do you have some red coloured jeans to go with those???
