Well?

OP posts:

Converse are a weird one. They were for teenagers, 20 years ago. Now all those teenagers are fully grown adults who still love their converse, and so wear them throughout their 30s, 40s.....

Noted if mind now. Age 33. And theyre just not that comfy. I've gone back to another teenage look- I used to wear adidas campus, very similar to superstars.

alltoomuchrightnow · 29/07/2017 13:48

Gordon, are you even still on MN?
Can you report back?!

RubbishMantra · 29/07/2017 13:51

I wear them and I'm older than him. They're a nice alternative to oversized white flappy tongued trainers. I thought they were a "suit all ages" type of thing? Come to think of it, I know a man approaching his 70s who wears them.

Now if they were grey mock-croc slip-ons, that would definitely BU.

ClopySow · 29/07/2017 13:52

I quite like how outraged 2017 people are at 2008 OP.

insurmuntable · 29/07/2017 13:53

My only objection is that they have such a poor ethical rating but for aging indie kids like us they are plenty sexy. DH is almost 50 and wears something similar.
When your DH is properly old you'll just be glad if he isn't in velcro shoes from the pound shop.

RelentlesslyPositive · 29/07/2017 13:54

I was wearing them in 2008, when this thread started. I'm 44 and don't have a pair right now, but have been wearing them on and off since about 1986. They are very comfortable.

reuset · 29/07/2017 14:00

alltoomuch Use the @GordontheGopher* feature, she'll get an unwanted email from the thread, and probably be very Confused

reuset · 29/07/2017 14:02

Oops, that's not going to work now is it. It should be @GordontheGopher

I dislike that new @ feature I keep meaning to disable it every time I get an email Grin

LovelyBath77 · 29/07/2017 14:14

Gothbaby · 29/07/2017 14:33

What's the matter with wearing Converses? I'm 60 and love my purple ones. With grey laces on one foot and white on the other.

Maybe this thread will be dug up again in another 9 years and you can ask the OP as her DH will be the same age then Biber. Grin

Ginorchoc · 29/07/2017 14:54

I wear them and I'm 42, I'm also a parent of a teen and know no teens who wear converse! They are too uncool for teens. (Prob because all their parents wear them 🙈)

Yesyesyesyeswhatever · 29/07/2017 14:57

Haha... My 52 year old DP wears almost exclusively DC shoes (mainly Hi and in black or camo). Or Osiris. He looks fab in them and does not own a pair of "smart shoes". He is interested so can wear pretty much what he likes to work. Horses for courses. I'm a bit younger, but wear Docs and Converse. They're comfy and practical. And look good IMO!

Yesyesyesyeswhatever · 29/07/2017 14:57

He "is in IT" that should say!

Yesyesyesyeswhatever · 29/07/2017 14:59

Oh no fricking Zombie converse!!!

Therealslimshady1 · 29/07/2017 15:01

Haha, it is 2017, and the OP is from 10 years ago, and converse have come back into fashion Grin

HipsterHunter · 29/07/2017 15:04

My 72 year old mother wears converse trainers

hana32 · 29/07/2017 15:05

YABU! Do you think 42 is somehow past it? I wouldn't mind at all if my DH wore converse. In fact maybe I'll buy him some!
