To think Meghan Markle isn’t the problem, it’s Harry?

I don’t understand why Meghan is so often treated as the driving force behind everything people dislike about them, while Harry is portrayed as some helpless man who’s been led astray.

He’s a grown man with his own opinions and the ability to make his own decisions. It’s his family and presumably he has far more history with them than she does. Why is the assumption that she’s manipulated him, rather than that he has his own grievances and is doing what he wants?

You don’t have to like Meghan to recognise that Harry is responsible for his own behaviour. I actually find him more irritating, particularly the impression he gives that everyone else is responsible for his unhappiness.

AIBU to think she gets a disproportionate amount of the blame, while he gets far too much benefit of the doubt?

My goodness, how gullible are you? What other stories has the Daily Mail sold you recently?

Are you always so patronising? Like in real life etc?

'“how I curtseyed to the late Queen’
Are you talking about the bow in the Oprah interview?
She is referencing Medieval Times Dinner and Tournament, which is a live action theatre chain in America. She was doing a parody of that. She says it very clearly.'

Exactly. She was taking the piss out of HERSELF for not knowing how to curtsey properly. If I remember right, she said that Harry gave her about 30 seconds notice that they were about to meet the Queen for the first time, and that she would need to curtsey. She, not unreasonably, thought 'oh shit, how do I do that exactly?!'. Zero disrespect to the Queen or the RF in general

So many people have decided that she's the devil incarnate, and won't be told otherwise 🙄

I'm enjoying how everyone is pretending it's not completely bizarre, archaic and cold to insist on family members curtseying to each other dependent on rank. Oh yeh, that's definitely not an absolutely absurd bit of nonsense and Meghan is the first person in the world to have taken the piss out of it.

He only spectacularly turned on his family in the most public of ways after he married her.

She has a history of falling out/ turning on those close to her, including her own family.

That faux curtesy she did while being interviewed was awful. Mocking his gran. The look in his eyes. Regret. He's stuck with it now.

I agree. Harry needed his family and their PR to present him in a good light. Meghan persuaded him to turn his back on all that and told him he was getting a raw deal and they could be much more successful and make more money outside the constraits of royal life. Without her egging him on he would never have left and wouldn't be in the awful position he's in now imho.

Gosh, you sound like an awful person, just because people have a different viewpoint to you they are rendered stupid? Do you know that people are allowed to have different opinions?

I think people that believe the drivel posted above, and refer to people who don't as newborn lambs, deserve everything they get.

That didn't answer my question. Do you think that people who have a different opinion to you are really stupid? Should everyone on this planet agree with you?

And about your father's (the KING's) teddy bear FFS. Very private and probably born out of a need for comfort due to his cold unaffectionate upbringing.

Pretty sure it was Harry's own genitals he wrote about (I didn't read it).

Edited

It was both Harry’s and William’s, re: foreskin or the lack thereof.

I hope it works out for them long term, I really do. But a large part of me sees Meghan returning to live the US alone at some point. Hope I'm wrong.

YankSplaining · 21/10/2026 23:49

I suspect part of the appeal of Meghan for Harry is that she allows him to indulge in his grievances. Some people might hear about, for example, difficult parts of his relationships with his family and say, “I’m really sorry you went through that, Harry. It’s always hard when family doesn’t help us in the way we need them to. I’m sure that despite their flaws, they all love you very much.”

Meghan, though, is the type who would say something like, “Oh my God, that’s emotional neglect/emotional abuse/some other pathological behavior – you know, you’re not obligated to keep them in your life.” Which might sound very attractive to someone in Harry’s position because so much of his life was pre-determined for him. But on the end, you’ve only got one family of origin and everyone in it has only got one life, and in some cases, it’s better to accept the past and work towards a better future rather than airing your grievances over and over again.

It's not his fault he needs security. It's not his fault he was born into that messed up family. He's had more vitriol for being honest about how toxic they are than Prince Andrew has for being a paedophile. Loads of celebrities have written books about their childhoods.

And that’s the problem he’s not a celebrity he’s a member of the Royal family ! She was the celebrity. His recent interview shows he still doesn’t take any accountability for his behaviour and blames the RF. with that attitude reconciliation will never happen with William

Owl55 · 22/10/2026 00:05

Harry’s an adult and is allowed to live the life he chooses . I hate the way the Uk press try to stir up hate against them . Yes he wrote a book criticizing the royal family but people forget so did Charles who criticized his upbringing and wanted to Queen to hand over the crown to him ! Let the hate stop! William will be head of the church in time , isn’t he supposed to be forgiving ? Let’s hope they reconcile . I wonder if any of the royals have met his children , it seems bizarre if not. People are realizing that Harry has also been treated badly and losing respect for the monarchy .

I agree with all of this. She drops people the second they are no longer any use to her. She manipulates him and because he isn't very bright and besotted with her, he falls for every lie and statement.

Exactly this

I have no feelings for them either way really.I think MM has been cast as the bad guy and Harry as some sort of faultless fop. My 2 friends had a heated discussion over Harry and Wills and who was "best" ! I think its a difficult position that they are now in, as They will always be linked to their interview with OW and their disapperance to US

MM showed us she was the bad guy in that OW interview. Before that I had every sympathy for her. Not now. At all. She's a lying narcissistic shallow greedy manipulator who lacks basic integrity and drops people the minute they are no longer of use to her. Vile

EvieBB · 22/10/2026 01:52

Theunamedcat · 21/10/2026 18:09

She was offered help and support she didn't want it she was unprepared partly because of her own actions mosty because of harry i think had he dated her for another year she would have run like the rest of them

Nah. She's fame and money hungry. She wouldn't have run. On the contrary she wanted to marry quickly before he changed his mind

How does it affect your life in any way where they live?

GreenHuia · 22/10/2026 02:15

I wonder what would have happened if they had met 10-15 years earlier and had a longer relationship before getting married and Meghan officially joining the family.
William and Catherine were able to take their time, she was able to rise above the negative press she received early on in their relationship and she had a slow introduction into royal life to truly understand what her future would be like.
By meeting later in life, Meghan missed out on that (though I believe Sophie offered her a lot of support / mentoring which was refused).
