Antisemitism here in the UK is appalling.

I was once a 'Grren' no more due to the hatred Antisemitism in the party.

Jewish students work together at a table at school

Schools should recognise antisemitism as distinct form of harm, review says

The government is expected to accept all 27 recommendations made in the review by ex-Ofsted boss, Sir David Bell.

I genuinely don't think the government gives a real fuck. Some within the government perhaps but they have been paying mostly lip service to combating anti semitism for years now.

After Miliband put sanctions on Israeli goods he was interviewed on Radio 4. Again he parroted 'I'm a proud British Jew'. The interviewer asked him if he understood how afraid British Jews were about going to synagogue on Yom Kippur and asked what would he say to them if he went to synagogue. He just said that he doesn't go to synagogue and didn't think any British Jew had a reason to be afraid.

That's a year after the Heaton Synagogue murders.

I just felt such utter contempt for the man.

I share your feelings.

He's a very useful screen, in the same way as Zak Polanski.

I sometimes go on it, just to correct the wild inaccuracies, which gives me great pleasure.

I feel most abashed. Blush .

We all get posters mixed up. I've done it before. Rest assured you will never see FP next to my username 🙂

MantleStatue · 23/10/2026 13:24

I'm usually more careful. But was feeling a bit spiky today. I appreciate your grace in accepting my apology. Thanks

My kids came home from school asking me and their dad “who do you support, Israel or Palestine” as if it was as simple as a football match. They are 8 and 10, why/how on earth are kids that young picking this up from schools?! They both proudly told me that they support Palestine and then listed stuff we shouldn’t buy anymore because of the “boycott list”. My family heritage is Jewish. We have close family friends who are Jewish and I absolutely gave the kids what for. We live on the same street as a synagogue and there are Jewish kids in their school. It’s rare that they see me as angry with them as I was on that day. Why is this stuff being tolerated in schools?! It’s absolutely disgusting.

The recent Green conference where they passed the ZIR motion was terrifying. They were selling the conspiracy book 'The Invention of the Jewish People' and Mothin Ali aggressively singled out a Jewish journalist.

Racism and bigotry need to be addressed no matter who is being targeted or who is doing the targeting.

My local Jewish school has constant security. They stopped after school activities, children have to hide their uniforms, and they have had to hire a private bus service to take children to and from school. Even so, the children were attacked when adults broke into the bus and screamed at them.

At my DC's school, a parent came in on 7 Oct wearing a shirt displaying Israel wiped off the map.

People feel uncomfortable addressing this because it's not being perpetrated by the 'far right'. But they need to, otherwise the UK will end up like Iran.

Yes, people are totally blind to fascism when it's dressed up differently. Enormous wealth and power, and clearly expressed - not to mention blatantly enacted - genocidal intent, have somehow been sold to us as "the poor, helpless underdog facing genocide."

I think the people who fall for it underestimate so many things about this situation and its perpetrators.

I thought what @PurpleThistle7 was interesting, about how our younger selves were pretty right-on. That sort of thing seems to be an inevitable stage of youth, especially among students. I remember marching for CND, the miners strike, and so on. But all that was pretty harmless compared with this.

The Green party are monsters.

Iran got where they are today because they thought they were so evolved, liberal and democratic that couldn't see what was happening in their country until it was too late. Sounds familiar..

EmpressOfTheThread · 23/10/2026 14:02

You're right, @Beachtastic- it's still fascist. Hamas are fascist, their acolytes and excusers in the West display the same alarming beliefs. The Green Party is a a prime example of that.

It's chilling... like The Nazis, A Warning from History.
Heed the warning.

Just the usual passive aggressive chant on a thread about Jewish children being in danger.

I'm spending less time on there now. The rampant hate and inability to see both sides takes a toll in the end. Feel better for taking a step back.

The Palestinian cause will go down as one of the biggest scams in history. It was set up to mask sinister ulterior motives, detrimental to the existence of the Jewish community. YANBU OP.

Why do these threads always turn into hate for Palestinians?

Why not just focus on what the thread is about, Jewish school security?

People bringing in their own agendas is just bizarre.

Because it's the Palestinian cause which has been weaponised for antisemitism, and fuelling attacks on the Jewish community, and in this case, the harrasment and threats school children face.
If you haven't read @PurpleThistle7's accounts, I would recommend that you do.
To add: I have seen no hate for Palestinians on here. Report it if you do.

I know the sort of thing only too well from hanging out on the CITME board more than was good for me.

The strange thing is, no one thinks they're antisemitic. It's understandable that no one want to admit to it. But I genuinely think most people who parrot antisemitic claptrap think they are the good guys and against the the bullying of minorities. They just forget that Jewish people are minorities too (very much so in the UK).

Why does that justify calling the Palestinians cause a scam?

News flash: calling their cause a scam IS hate.

Because there is a direct correlation between the acceptance of anti Israel/ anti 'Zionist' narratives encouraged by that cause and the emboldment of anti-semites.
It is not a coincidence that people supporting that cause have been recorded as pro-hamas, pro-houthi, pro-hezbollah & pro-IRGC, none of whom are acting in the best interests of those people they claim to support.

Yes, that's the worrying thing. They don't see the hate and the bigotry. They don't see the impact on a community under siege and children not safe at school.
