Did something a bit silly at work

I regularly visit schools for my job. One school had to change premises to a larger school site whilst building works were being undertaken on the original school building.

The support staff of the new building were unpleasant and unfriendly- possibly because they didn’t want to share their building with another school.

Each week for the past nine months or so I’ve experienced unpleasantness with one particular member of staff on the front desk. Things like deliberately keeping me waiting to let me in and out of the building (she would pretend she wasn’t in the office, but I could see her in the reflection of one of the windows, she thought she was out of sight), abrupt manner, unhelpful, not passing on messages, rolling eyes because she has to get out of her chair to press a button to release the door, huffing because my mere presence is an inconvenience etc, you get the picture.

A couple of weeks ago we had a slight altercation, she was scowling as usual as I arrived and I asked her if everything was ok as she seemed quite unhappy to see me. She immediately became defensive and gave me a right mouthful so I calmly told her she maybe should develop some social skills given she was on the front desk 😳

I spoke to the head teacher of ‘my school’ who said she’d deal with it. Miraculously, over the next couple of weeks the doors were unlocked and she was not in the office as I walked passed. Result

Today was my last day as the school are moving back to their original premises after half term and I did something a little immature. In the foyer at the entrance is a photograph of all the school staff and their names, there was no-one around. Without thinking I got out my sharpie and drew a moustache and angry eyebrows on the picture of this person. Under her name I wrote ‘Miss Funsucker’. I did chuckle about it for the rest of the day but now I feel a bit bad and anxious I will get into trouble- it wouldn’t take Sherlock Holmes to work out it was me 😬

should I do nothing or should I do something - if so what? I know it’s a long shot but has anyone else done this?

Yes today I did 6 visits- it’s normally less. They were small time slots with travel in between- also had a couple of cancellations.

I don’t actually know how many posts I’ve made can someone give a correct figure? Or are you just scrolling through counting? I would have thought there’s an automatic way to know?

I have posted frequently throughout the day but I’m thinking there’s a little exaggeration going on.

She claims that she's a Counsellor in a school. However, a freelance one. Very freelance 🤷🏼

Who’s a counsellor? That’s not me. I think someone else maybe suggested that but no I’m not a counsellor

Yes I’ve been in work today

Don't you have to do the usual process of note making, assessment and communicating with the pastoral lead? Just...in and out and on MN?.
Sorry, scratch that. She's not a counsellor. I thought it seemed very odd.

Oh I see. My bad, as the kids say. Is it the hygiene management?

That’s not my role, I do make notes when I get home though and update my records

Not a chance have you been working today OP! Pull the other one

You have posted 270 times in 23 hours. Assuming you have slept that is a posting rate of once every 3 minutes 🤣

@GoodChocolate. It's an essential service.

LentilRC1 · 20/10/2026 20:06

I can guarantee that this OP is ND. And this thread is therefore probably quite cruel

I’m sorry I’m not understanding your relentless posts. If you don’t believe me that’s fine, no problem. Are you being sarcastic suggesting I’m a counsellor or work in hygiene? I’m sorry I just understand your thinking

It doesn't read as an ND person, there are certain give aways about them though, but I wouldn't say ND personally.

Well yes it is an essential service, but there are many essential services. I just don’t understand why you think that’s me when I haven’t specified my role

I used to know someone who worked in a school but the name was spelled differently. Now I think about it I believe she taught 'textiles' 🤔

@Saracopp certainly isn't a teacher! Or a TA.

God you’re all very boring and judgemental. Who cares - try and have fun with what’s left of your life and don’t let all the miserable people in this thread get to you.

Not sure how you can possibly know that and it isn't the people replying to the several hundred posts by OP who decided to put this up in the first place who are responsible.

I'm not counting- I just know anyone doing even a reasonable amount of work in a day can't post as much as you have. I only had to work a half day this afternoon and you wouldn't see a post from me between 12 and 4.30.

Absolutely, especially with such a very strange tale.
