Did something a bit silly at work

I regularly visit schools for my job. One school had to change premises to a larger school site whilst building works were being undertaken on the original school building.

The support staff of the new building were unpleasant and unfriendly- possibly because they didn’t want to share their building with another school.

Each week for the past nine months or so I’ve experienced unpleasantness with one particular member of staff on the front desk. Things like deliberately keeping me waiting to let me in and out of the building (she would pretend she wasn’t in the office, but I could see her in the reflection of one of the windows, she thought she was out of sight), abrupt manner, unhelpful, not passing on messages, rolling eyes because she has to get out of her chair to press a button to release the door, huffing because my mere presence is an inconvenience etc, you get the picture.

A couple of weeks ago we had a slight altercation, she was scowling as usual as I arrived and I asked her if everything was ok as she seemed quite unhappy to see me. She immediately became defensive and gave me a right mouthful so I calmly told her she maybe should develop some social skills given she was on the front desk 😳

I spoke to the head teacher of ‘my school’ who said she’d deal with it. Miraculously, over the next couple of weeks the doors were unlocked and she was not in the office as I walked passed. Result

Today was my last day as the school are moving back to their original premises after half term and I did something a little immature. In the foyer at the entrance is a photograph of all the school staff and their names, there was no-one around. Without thinking I got out my sharpie and drew a moustache and angry eyebrows on the picture of this person. Under her name I wrote ‘Miss Funsucker’. I did chuckle about it for the rest of the day but now I feel a bit bad and anxious I will get into trouble- it wouldn’t take Sherlock Holmes to work out it was me 😬

should I do nothing or should I do something - if so what? I know it’s a long shot but has anyone else done this?

I am NOT a victim. It was a completely reasonable question

Well you are saying someone is being meeean to you...

They were mean, did you not read them? I genuinely wanted to know why.

It was unintentional- a mistake, isn’t that obvious?

Not at this point, no.

Ok, it was a mistake, I can’t fathom any other reason why someone would quote themself? Maybe I’m missing something

Report them then if you think they breach the Talk Guidelines.

Ok, I could report, but I actually wanted a response to my question

I bet they won’t even notice for months!
We have photos of all staff in the reception ( primary school) it’s tiny reception and I walk daily past it and I never look at the pics. I mean who does?

The visitors, the parents, the students, the staff. However I teach at a big secondary.

No chance someone in full time employment posts well over 200 times in 24 hours, during the working day!!

Doubtless it will be brushed away as a day when OP isn't working if it comes to it. Answer for everything.

There is a certain combatative posting style with short 'don't give a damn what you think' answers to most posts with fawning agreement for supporters that I've certainly seen before and quite recently. Interesting.

I can't be the only person wondering what on earth the OP's role is: visiting schools in a professional capacity but a freelancer; more work than she can cope with; knows that schools and heads talk to each other but isn't worried about them talking to each other about her stupid, unprofessional behaviour.

My guess is she goes round schools emptying sanitary bins.
They wont think its you OP,-they'll assume its one of the kids!

Exactly! The school reception area is the most public facing area of the school and the photos are there to introduce staff to the parents and public.

now they have OP coming in, supposedly as a paid professional, and covering one of them with childish graffiti which victimises a staff member. How can any HT let that be the first impression of their school and let it slide as a joke? It beggars belief

Well done OP! We have all wanted to get revenge on a petty Hitler at some point in our lives & this was such a childish action from a professional that it's incredibly funny. It's a pity that so many of the other contributors on this thread have had a sense of humour failure.

Edited

No sense of humor failure here. The OP has cheapened herself by acting like a bully.

I’m in and out of my car all day, check my phone before setting off (in my car) Although my phone is off in work I’m not a classroom teacher

That just doesn't add up, you said you were at work all day today yet still posted all day...you were in and out of your car that many times?!

Are you one of those people that laughs at Mrs Brown’s Boys? 🥴

Yes today I did 6 visits- it’s normally less. They were small time slots with travel in between- also had a couple of cancellations.

I don’t actually know how many posts I’ve made can someone give a correct figure? Or are you just scrolling through counting? I would have thought there’s an automatic way to know?

I have posted frequently throughout the day but I’m thinking there’s a little exaggeration going on.
