Did something a bit silly at work

I regularly visit schools for my job. One school had to change premises to a larger school site whilst building works were being undertaken on the original school building.

The support staff of the new building were unpleasant and unfriendly- possibly because they didn’t want to share their building with another school.

Each week for the past nine months or so I’ve experienced unpleasantness with one particular member of staff on the front desk. Things like deliberately keeping me waiting to let me in and out of the building (she would pretend she wasn’t in the office, but I could see her in the reflection of one of the windows, she thought she was out of sight), abrupt manner, unhelpful, not passing on messages, rolling eyes because she has to get out of her chair to press a button to release the door, huffing because my mere presence is an inconvenience etc, you get the picture.

A couple of weeks ago we had a slight altercation, she was scowling as usual as I arrived and I asked her if everything was ok as she seemed quite unhappy to see me. She immediately became defensive and gave me a right mouthful so I calmly told her she maybe should develop some social skills given she was on the front desk 😳

I spoke to the head teacher of ‘my school’ who said she’d deal with it. Miraculously, over the next couple of weeks the doors were unlocked and she was not in the office as I walked passed. Result

Today was my last day as the school are moving back to their original premises after half term and I did something a little immature. In the foyer at the entrance is a photograph of all the school staff and their names, there was no-one around. Without thinking I got out my sharpie and drew a moustache and angry eyebrows on the picture of this person. Under her name I wrote ‘Miss Funsucker’. I did chuckle about it for the rest of the day but now I feel a bit bad and anxious I will get into trouble- it wouldn’t take Sherlock Holmes to work out it was me 😬

should I do nothing or should I do something - if so what? I know it’s a long shot but has anyone else done this?

I guess it's a positive you refrained from writing Miss Cocksucker.

Well yes, I think that may have been a step too far 😁

It was a sentence, not a lecture. You do seem to struggle with words and their meaning don’t you 😁

And you really are incredibly literal, aren’t you?

Yes I am literal. Is that a bad thing?

So the bullied became the bully? Not a good look and definitely not in a school setting!

Definitely not, and as OP is pretty much able to do what they like (apparently) as they're self employed with no monitoring, boundaries or any of the kind of policies most of us have to adhere to, I find that kind of rogue set up pretty concerning in an educational setting.

So many replies on this thread but its all fake. The poster started another contentious thread a while ago and gave similar replies in what is a very distinctive style of writing.

Besides, nobody could be so stupid as to claim they are professional and good at their job whilst at the same time claiming to have done something so juvenile.

Diagonal seating on a train thread? Hard to believe there would be two people out there like this.

Oh stop. Just because I’m freelance doesn’t mean I can’t be monitored, respect boundaries or policies. That’s just daft. I think doing what I like is a bit of a stretch but I certainly do have a lot of flexibility

I can’t tell you things that haven’t happened that is impossible, happy to share what has happened. Was there anything in particular I can help you with?

The vitriol in these responses 🥱

i think it’s hilarious 😆

Me too 😆There have been so many times Ive wanted to get my own back but not done it. I did quit my last job though as was so fed up of being spoken to like s#!t that I knew if I stayed much longer I'd get sacked. The last delightful customer was so rude that I asked her to leave the store. She shouted and complained and told me that she no longer wished to speak with me, get the manager. So I turned my swivel chair around, and said I am the manager and I asking you to leave. She didnt quite know what to do so threatened to go to a different store. I wished her well and said there is the door if you'd now like to walk through it! On her way out I gave her the finger, my colleague was sure I was going to slap her. I resigned next day and decided it was time to relax and not put up with crap from folks.

Alien abduction. Always works and isn't in the HR staff handbook.

They get really uncomfortable when you start going into great detail about the probes...

You've repeatedly made it so clear how you have no organisation to answer to, how you can pick and choose work and are completely freelance and you definitely don't seem bothered about being seen as unprofessional. So no its not a stretch at all.

That was utterly ridiculous. You're an adult, not 3 years old. Unless this is made up as it can't seriously have happened.
