Did something a bit silly at work

I regularly visit schools for my job. One school had to change premises to a larger school site whilst building works were being undertaken on the original school building.

The support staff of the new building were unpleasant and unfriendly- possibly because they didn’t want to share their building with another school.

Each week for the past nine months or so I’ve experienced unpleasantness with one particular member of staff on the front desk. Things like deliberately keeping me waiting to let me in and out of the building (she would pretend she wasn’t in the office, but I could see her in the reflection of one of the windows, she thought she was out of sight), abrupt manner, unhelpful, not passing on messages, rolling eyes because she has to get out of her chair to press a button to release the door, huffing because my mere presence is an inconvenience etc, you get the picture.

A couple of weeks ago we had a slight altercation, she was scowling as usual as I arrived and I asked her if everything was ok as she seemed quite unhappy to see me. She immediately became defensive and gave me a right mouthful so I calmly told her she maybe should develop some social skills given she was on the front desk 😳

I spoke to the head teacher of ‘my school’ who said she’d deal with it. Miraculously, over the next couple of weeks the doors were unlocked and she was not in the office as I walked passed. Result

Today was my last day as the school are moving back to their original premises after half term and I did something a little immature. In the foyer at the entrance is a photograph of all the school staff and their names, there was no-one around. Without thinking I got out my sharpie and drew a moustache and angry eyebrows on the picture of this person. Under her name I wrote ‘Miss Funsucker’. I did chuckle about it for the rest of the day but now I feel a bit bad and anxious I will get into trouble- it wouldn’t take Sherlock Holmes to work out it was me 😬

should I do nothing or should I do something - if so what? I know it’s a long shot but has anyone else done this?

She’s started quoting herself now and her profound intellect prohibits her knowing the difference between your and you’re.

The weird spiralling is way funnier than the original post.

Am I quoting myself? Sorry I’m not aware of that. I certainly didn’t know it was that many posts if that’s what your referring to?

How would I know the reason for why you find them “unkind/hurtful”? Think you’re losing it babe.

Because you wrote them. Do you not agree that your comments are unkind?

Well you’re half right, I may get into trouble but it wouldn’t be deserved

Yes it would be. You can't be in a position of any responsibility. You seem to have the mental age of 4.

Lbet · 20/10/2026 19:12

Dear me whatever happened to a bit of fun?
It sounds like some of you lot need some fun in your lives, don’t take things so seriously.

Go on be a devil and let your hair down, never know may stop you whining on here.😜

Saracopp · 20/10/2026 19:13

Casperroonie · 20/10/2026 19:10

That was utterly ridiculous. You're an adult, not 3 years old. Unless this is made up as it can't seriously have happened.
.

It does seem utterly ridiculous doesn’t it? I think time has a magical effect on the brain

Gosh is it that many? 😁 guess I’m a quick reader and typer. I’ve actually been to work today too so I’ve done well

Ok, now I know this isn’t real. No one with a job can sit on Mumsnet replying all day like you have.

And any school would haul you over the coals for your behaviour

Nope, hth 😀

Oh really? I’m much older than 4

Of course there is.

Do you know the school personally? 🤔

Ok no problem, I must have misinterpreted or misunderstood

Agree, I don't think it's real either now. OP was just congratulating herself for posting 200+ plus times while managing to go to work. If we're to believe that she works across schools, there's no way she had her phone out all day posting on MN. My OH is a primary school teacher and adults can't whip their phones out whenever they like, even if they are not in a classroom. It's a safeguarding issue, which OP would know if she actually did the job she claims to do.

Gold plated bollocks.

I’m in and out of my car all day, check my phone before setting off (in my car) Although my phone is off in work I’m not a classroom teacher

I genuinely do believe it. I think one of those people who try hard but just always miss the mark. I sense this did happen and the OP genuinely thought we would all find it really funny (like her husband). And we haven’t. And now she’s just getting a bit silly.

NearlyNormalNorma · 20/10/2026 19:22

Final written warning tops 🙌

PinkMagpie · 20/10/2026 19:23

OP you can try to convince us that you are a super professional person who can pick or choose their work and is very highly thought of. But we have now seen you camped out on Mumsnet all day. Not to mention your unprofessional stunt with the sharpie. Your actions do not match the picture of yourself you are trying to paint

Saracopp · 20/10/2026 19:08

I find your comments unkind and quite hurtful. Is there a reason for that?

It's a bit late to claim you're a victim when you've been courting attention and revelling in it throughout the thread.

ForPinkCrab · 20/10/2026 19:24

Just read mumsnet version of war and peace and maybe I have the same warped sense of humour, also being a bit more on the mature side of mumsnet readers, but when you get to my age , you really don’t give a flying F
I get the odd anxiety twinge when I do something stupid , and having adhd just makes me worse.

OP I think you were completely justified, it’s exactly the sort of thing I would do as I have a very childish attitude at times , mine is because I had a crap childhood so making up for it now. I am forever in trouble with my kids for misbehaving, often offending because I never know the right terminology to use , seeing my kids hiding behind their hands when I open my gob is commonplace . As for some of the posters on here , you really need to lighten up

Your phone could've only been off for five minutes at a time then, because looking back at the thread I can see you posted about five pages' worth of your own comments at steady intervals throughout the day. No way did you do that in a school setting.

histrainersbythedoor · 20/10/2026 19:25

No chance someone in full time employment posts well over 200 times in 24 hours, during the working day!!

Uricon2 · 20/10/2026 19:28

Saracopp · 20/10/2026 19:04

We have photos of all staff in the reception ( primary school) it’s tiny reception and I walk daily past it and I never look at the pics. I mean who does?

That’s ok, I have been completely honest in all of my posts. It’s ok if you don’t believe me, that is your prerogative
