Adults at petting zoos/farms/kids days out

1000 replies

ExtraHotDoubleShot · 19/10/2026 12:42

Has anyone else noticed a massive uptick in grown adults (many in late teens and 20s) going on days out aimed at kids/young families? I’m finding it increasingly irritating - small children having to queue behind grown adults to stroke rabbits or see tanks of fish.

(Exception where there is clearly a disability at play)

Oh dear, you and your precious darlings are just going to have to wait your turn. Bad luck OP.

What a stupid thing for you to get wound up about, chill out fgs

Dontknowwhattodopw820 · 19/10/2026 17:41

I was thinking this the other day but the opposite.
So many kids attractions are fun for adults. Why should they only go if they have kids?

Also ive had many experiences with my own kids that I havent enjoyed such as an aquarium as they ran round it in 5 mins , I couldnt read the info etc. Same in museums. I actually think people take their kids to completely age in appropriate stuff!! Adults should do it more often!

Why is the working status of posters relevant?

Well yeah. And clearly the OP is not working today with the amount of posts she has posted on this thread! So it's weird that she even mentioned this!

I wonder what gives the people that have said it is childish joy?

Not much judging by their posts!

TheOlderIGetTheStayerIHome · 19/10/2026 17:43

yet cat and capybara cafes fine for adults to go to?

A CAPYBARA CAFE! <off to Google locations>

I do hope op that, as this is deemed a kids activity by you, you didn’t reach a hand out to caress a soft fluffy bunny whilst your DC were having their turn.

Imdunfer · 19/10/2026 17:46

ExtraHotDoubleShot · 19/10/2026 12:50

It’s a childish activity. It seems to be in the wider picture of adults acting like kids.

Oh dear. I'd better not admit that I'm child free and watch children's films and read children's books then?

Winnie Pooh is actually a philosophy book of course. Here's AA Milne's metaphor for modern life.

“Here is Edward Bear, coming downstairs now, bump, bump, bump, on the back of his head, behind Christopher Robin. It is, as far as he knows, the only way of coming downstairs, but sometimes he feels that there really is another way, if only he could stop bumping for a moment and think of it.

There is a very big difference between having childish fun and childlike fun. You sound like you could do with some of the latter.

He goes on the swings at the park if we walk past and it isn't busy too.

To be honest his MH is rock bottom. He hardly leaves the house. So if 10 mins on the swing, or a trip to see some animals grey him out then damn right I'm taking him.

Of course he wouldn't hog a swing, or a rabbit, if there were small children waiting. But he would have a short turn.

If you saw him though, you wouldn't know any of that and would just judge him as being too old. Luckily we don't GAF.

All rage aside, this is intriguing. The Japanese have a word for young adults who fail to launch because they’re terrified of adult life and responsibility - Hikikomori. Many of them spend way too much time gaming. I wonder if regressing to treating them like a small child by taking them to petting zoos and the swings, actually helps or speeds up their regression?

Laugh all you want, I recognise you from other threads and your attitude towards others is absolutely revolting.

I’m sure you don’t have kids though. No mother would spend as much time posting on here as you do 😂😂

I want to visit a Capybara café! They rock.

Not even escape rooms it would seem!
Oliver Cromwell would be pleased. Bible reading, tilling the soil and acts of charity only!

We're not allowed to those either?! I'll make note in the Boring Adult Bible!

ODFOD.
Maybe you should learn a little about anxiety, ND, and exposure therapy.

Purplebunnie · 19/10/2026 17:51

I visited Abbotsbury Swannery last year. I absolutely, along with a lot of other adults, put my hand up to feed the swans after the few children who were there had a go first. You seem to be saying that I should not have this experience because I am an adult? That I was being childish.

This is not the dress rehearsal, this is the real thing and if I can enjoy these odd little pleasures then I am going to. We only got one go at life, I'm in my twilight years and I will absolutely experience things such as this. I'm not up for zip wires etc but anything to do with animals, architecture, history then I am there.

I will be childish thank you, it's my life

Exposure therapy doesn’t sound appropriate for petting zoos

What?! I was asking a question. They piped up to say they’re one of the people I’m basically talking about so I asked if it actually works, given it’s treating an adult in a child like manner

My parents took me there once for a birthday treat, I was an adult! It was lovely

Indeed. Though they can't be any worse than adults who play with little toy soldiers. My ex, brought me back to his house once to show me this thing he called Warhammer and, I never got the ick so fast in my life 🤢

Omg; there are some right creeps play Warhammer. Must say though there’s also some godly like creatures. There’s a guy who I’ve seen playing warhammer (we call him a battle star galactica b**tard) while we do our yoga class and his got the most perfect hair; and well groomed beard. It’s hard to get an ick when his figure is so gorgeous. When I say figure I mean his Magnus Calgar limited edition in ultramarine colours.

I had the best fun on a zip wire. Empty playground in the rain with my grand daughter.

Nothing worse than a pure weirdo who gets off on rage baiting others. It must be some sort of mental illness.

Henry Cavill plays Warhammer. He's basically a god.

People with mental illnesses are not ‘weirdos’. Thats really unkind.

DH’s warhammer is boxed up in the garage fortunately for when DS is older… we wouldn’t share a bed if he still played with it!
