I just noticed that someone I know has put a group picture of some children on their Facebook account.

I know that this person does not have permission from the parents, in fact I am sure the parents dont even know about it.

Is this unreasonable or not??

Vanity has nothing to do with it for me - it is a question of trying to keep images of my daughter within our control, not published on the internet for anyone to see. I know plenty of people who don't post pictures of their children on the internet, and plenty that do. Why is it so hard to understand that it is a personal choice?

Hmmm - assuming you had told everyone about your past with your abusive partner, you mean?

The thing is, I don't list those situations as definitive reasons why not, but as illustrations of how social networking sites are very different from print albums, and have much more far reaching consequences.

It worries me that people think they're the same thing, when they're really really not. And I think people should be very careful about what they share on those sites - not just pics of children but personal info, data pictures, etc etc.
