To think Jools has the perfect life

Jools Oliver

Lots of kids, with partner since very young, lots of money, beautiful home.
I realise no one's life is perfect, but it seems ideal. Found love early, no rubbish men or heartbreak or loneliness of being alone and struggling. loads of kids and a loving, large family there as you get older, no money worries or having to work unless you want to, amazing countryside home

Am envious!

That was Ainsley Harriot 😂

Was it? Perhaps Jamie nicked it from him? Perhaps they all do it? Except Gordon.

I reckon Ainsley would be good too...

I did this for a long time too, but it gets a bit old in the end and you start to know there's more important things in life

Speak for yourself. Which is exactly the point I'm making. I wouldn't have missed out on any of it for anything. But everyone is different and therefore there are a myriad different "perfect lives", as different people want different things.

IcedPurple · 15/10/2026 17:00

I had no idea that all 5 of their children are on the spectrum. That can't be easy, no matter how wealthy you are.

But where has this been said?

Tattle.

I didn't miss out at all, did it all for a long time, then it becomes pretty soulless and vapid

She’s had a lot of miscarriages hasn’t she in between the children they do have.

Also much like most other celeb men the talks of the affairs which of course are always publicly denied and that’s their right it’s their personal life.

I do like that the children have been kept out of the limelight mostly unlike a certain ahem Beckham clan.

A lot of people pair up young and stick together. Lots of people just don’t like to hear it either.

I agree, ‘perfect’ lives can mean very different things to people. My ideal life today would be living somewhere very pretty like the Cotswolds or Bath, in a picture perfect cottage, and a beautiful cottage garden, that I would spend hours in, with a couple of dogs and cats. That really would be heaven to me. For others it could sound deathly boring.

herecomestheairfryer · 15/10/2026 17:34

I don't know why people are saying she must be lonely, she has money and I assume is reasonably able to go out of the house to meet people? She had a very successful clothing range at one point, no idea what she does now, but can't imagine she's sitting at home crying because she's miserable. I read her very first book many years ago and she came across as very needy and annoying. She used to get Jamie's PA to pencil in sex to his diary when she wanted to TTC, this was before they had any children, from what I remember she used to throw big strops if she didn't get her way. I'd love her house and animals, not remotely jealous of Jamie or the kids.

Because it ruins the whole illusion of to have a best life you need to travel and shag around for your entire 20’s to have a good life and being partnered up and god forbid have a child at that point its a waste of youth.

This thread has got me imagining sex with a whole line up of celebrity chefs.

I'm not enjoying it very much I can tell you.

For you. I didn't feel like that. And, as I've said, having children would be my worst nightmare. Why is it so difficult to grasp that everyone is different?

thisismeithinkorisit · 15/10/2026 18:35

But you haven't had kids, so you can't compare? If you did, you'd know exactly what i'm taking about

Good god. I know, without a shadow of a doubt, that having children would have made me unbelievably miserable. To use your logic - you're not me so you can't know what I'm talking about.

You can't possibly know, I thought the same for a long time too, but it didn't and it made me see how empty and fairly pointless life was before

ExtraHotDoubleShot · 15/10/2026 19:00

Nah. I am quite envious of Amanda Owen’s life. Not so much the divorce and day to day stresses but her general strength and stamina - running a farm with 9 kids (some of whom she delivered herself in front of the fire!). Plus she’s stunning.

Yes I can know, because I know myself. I also strongly dislike children and babies. There's no point engaging with you anymore as you are being ridiculous. It's my instinct to feel sorry for people with children, but rationally I know I'm being silly because I understand that different things make different people happy. You don't seem to have found your rationality.
