To think Jools has the perfect life

Jools Oliver

Lots of kids, with partner since very young, lots of money, beautiful home.
I realise no one's life is perfect, but it seems ideal. Found love early, no rubbish men or heartbreak or loneliness of being alone and struggling. loads of kids and a loving, large family there as you get older, no money worries or having to work unless you want to, amazing countryside home

Am envious!

It wouldn't be my choice. Lovely house and money, yes, rest of it, no thanks. I wouldn't like to live life in the public eye at all, or to be in the position where the most notable thing about me is who I'm married to. And realistically, whatever her own achievements, talents, personality etc, the first answer from to "Who is Jools Oliver?" will, the vast majority of times, be "Jamie Oliver's wife." I hope she's happy, but I wouldn't swap.

They can afford cleaners, gardeners etc. Why assume that there is the usual drudgery? She has written books, I believe, and work, comes in many different forms, imo.

She did have a kids clothing line at some stage didn't she? I don't know if it actually lasted.

She seems void of talent and personality.

You seem very bitter.

ClearFruit · 15/10/2026 10:43

Not really, she's married to Jamie Oliver.

Yep- THIS.

Good grief, I would have smothered him in his sleep years ago

beautifuIstranger · 15/10/2026 13:50

Ah now Gordon Ramsey? totally get that.

I bet he'd be incredible in bed - really sweary and dirty

She certainly has a privileged life in material terms but she'll still have worries about kids/wider family, any mental or physical health issues that anyone else would.

Plus the trade off is unwanted publicity and lack of privacy.

People very quickly get used to what they have.

We are all very lucky to not be in a poor country (yet) and have clean water/free education etc

Lilypad34 · 15/10/2026 13:58

Every time I see him interviewed he seems devoid of any sort of humour. Takes himself very seriously and seems quite dull. No amount of money would make me happy with that sort of life. Mind you Jools doesn’t seem like a laugh a minute either so probably perfect for each other.

JuliaAgrippina · 15/10/2026 13:59

Tootsurly · 15/10/2026 12:08

I don't know that I'd want her life per se, but I do envy people who found their life partner young without having to put up with a series of crap men.

Novel veiw on here.

I did that met DH at 18 - took 8 to marry and ten for first child - but all I see is endless negativity how I must have missed out etc we'd have had more kids if we had more money as well.

I think he got very lucky with his career and if she happy having kids well good for her - I'm sure they've had road bumps and set backs like everyone else along the way.

IceBrownie · 15/10/2026 14:01

Obviously I'm not privy to details of their private life.

I would say the clothing collection she created (based on designs from the 70s/80s and patterns from her own childhood) was phenomenal and unlike anything else that was sold on the high street at the time.

I bought several pieces for DCs (including cot linen) and the quality and whimsy was unmatched.

Excited101 · 15/10/2026 14:04

She has a kids clothing brand that’s been going for years! It does very well and is stocked by Next now- in what way has she ‘no talent’?? Some really nasty posts on this thread. Good luck to them all, you never get the full picture on socials/press but they seem like nice people. I met her a couple of times a few years back and she and the children she had with her were absolutely lovely.

Of someone with 5 children?

Absolutely not!

If I could have had more children I would have had two, but I was lucky enough to get one. I would hate the chaos and stress that having five children would involve.

The endless school runs, mess, children's parties, teenagers, friendship issues, bullying, GCSEs, A levels, UCAS, university. God no 🙄

TheyWereFriendlyCreatures · 15/10/2026 12:57

Interesting - do most people feel like this?
I think it's far more preferable to find a life partner slightly later (around 30 perhaps) when you've had a good chance of independence and freedom, and really know yourself. Obviously without a series of crap men though! Just enjoying being free and single, time with friends, flings, relationships with ok men who may not be forever.

I definitely feel like that. Especially as after decades I still never found my “needle”. My experience has been “good”, “bad” and “hideous”. I would be far happier skipping that and finding my person young (like early / mid 20s). In fairness I was open to that. It just never happened.

You may qualify for help to get over this!

If I could just try it once maybe it would cure me? 🤣

SevenYellowHammers · 15/10/2026 14:07

But imagine having to listen to all that bish bash bosh , Percy pepper and Tina tomato gibberish…

MyrtlethePurpleTurtle · 15/10/2026 14:08

tokennamechange · 15/10/2026 11:45

huh? so could anyone else's?

It would still be a lot easier if you are very ill to have (presumably), a supportive family, enough money not to worry about working and paying the mortgage off, likely private health care to get treated faster, cleaners, etc. Rather than having to do all that while being ill.

Money doesn't make you happy but it does make being miserable easier to bear.

Also even if (obviously hoping not) she did become very ill now, many people would happily exchange 40-50 very good years with almost every luxury and happiness, than 80 years of miserable poverty.

"Money doesn't make you happy but it does make being miserable easier to bear"

This is what I came on to say (plus to observe in passing what borders on glee in some posts to imagine all the things that might be shit in her life)

Bloozie · 15/10/2026 14:10

I mean, maybe. But she's part of Jamie Oliver's 'brand', her role in life is to fulfil the wholesome mother charmed life role in his TV and social media presence, she can never put on weight or fall to pieces... The pressure on her is unreal - and all to be second fiddle to the main story: Jamie Oliver.

I'm not so sure myself.

Firebird83 · 15/10/2026 14:11

Isn’t she autistic? I’m autistic and it’s not exactly easy.

MyrtlethePurpleTurtle · 15/10/2026 14:13

CocksBolingey · 15/10/2026 11:54

The definition of perfect is very subjective. Personally, being married to old rubber lips and having a gaggle of crotch goblins wouldn't be my idea of a life well lived, but hey ho, it takes all sorts to make the world go round!
As long as she's happy! 🙂

What an unpleasant post

Urgh exactly - a day of that and I'd be ready to poke his eyes out with a spoon

zoemum2006 · 15/10/2026 14:16

I read her book about having her babies (I read it in 2006). It was a lot of work being married to Jamie Oliver, he worked long hours and was gone a lot (or absorbed in another things) in the early days.

Autumnbootcamp · 15/10/2026 14:21

Tell you who I envy (from what I gather about her life), Pippa Middleton.

I'd rather be Gordon Ramsay's wife than Jamie Oliver's.

For the sex?

As PP have said, she's married to Jamie Oliver - the man who turned up to his own wedding looking like a dog's dinner.

Why, what did he wear?
