To think Jools has the perfect life

Jools Oliver

Lots of kids, with partner since very young, lots of money, beautiful home.
I realise no one's life is perfect, but it seems ideal. Found love early, no rubbish men or heartbreak or loneliness of being alone and struggling. loads of kids and a loving, large family there as you get older, no money worries or having to work unless you want to, amazing countryside home

Am envious!

He’s flawed. So am I.

I’ve got a bit of a thing where I don’t find beautiful people sexy. They’re nice to look at, like a statue or a sculpture. But they don’t light my fire in the same way that sexy people do. People really don’t have to be beautiful to be sexy.

Jamie isn't sexy either. That accent is awful.

TheCoralDog · 16/10/2026 09:23

i'm not sure.. i read her book bump to 9 months and loved it and yes thought her life seemed lovely. But to keep on and on having babies when you're practically 50? i feel like there must be something missing there for her to keep on repeating her 20s and 30s over and over again.

Waitingfordoggo · 16/10/2026 09:23

Agree @JulietteRoche , I don’t find him sexy at all.

The sad thing about these threads is that everyone immediately jumps on them to say how shit her life is really, and how she’s probably miserable/being cheated on/lonely etc.
In reality, there is no such thing as the perfect life, because everyone is different and wants different things from their life. I wouldn’t want to live in the countryside, for example.
i hope she’s got her perfect life though, or as close to it as possible.

This.

Thanks to this thread I’ve now imagined Jamie Ainsley and Gordon in the sack. My mind needs bleach.

You can't possibly know, I thought the same for a long time too, but it didn't and it made me see how empty and fairly pointless life was before

I can see why you’re envious now. It must have been frustrating to have had an empty and pointless life before having a child.

Honestly, I would not want to have loads of children and be with my childhood sweetheart. I had a great life before children and I have a great life now. My life certainly wasn’t empty of pointless before children. It was just different and I don’t think either one was better or worse.

ffsgloria · 16/10/2026 09:45

She's human so she will have struggles of some sort surely. But yes a long healthy happy marriage, lots of healthy children, beautiful home, no money worries, a successful kids clothing brand, that's a pretty good life. She is neurodivergent, though we don't know whether this is ADHD, ASD, dyslexia etc. and is also raising ND children, neither of which are walks in the park. I have friends that know her and she is by all accounts a lovely woman.

Alltheprettyseahorses · 16/10/2026 09:46

I think she seems lovely and some women want a lot of children so it's irrelevant what other people choose (one was more than enough for me tbf though). I'm on the fence about her husband - he seems nice and his cooking is great, you'd always be well fed whatever dietary requirements you had, but I'd be reaching for the gin every time he said gnarly or silky and I don't even drink because I don't like the taste.

OneoftheWeddingPeople · 16/10/2026 09:48

This thread needs a trigger warning for tv chef and sexual content being interlinked. Extremely disturbing!!!

I think you are being exceedingly rude to @thecatneuterer

Suggesting her life is not fulfilled or meaningful just because she doesn't have DC so patronising and so myopic. I say that as someone who has DC.

@thecatneuterer - I hope your life remains happy and fulfilled. DC or not.

ThePineappleSeahorse · 15/10/2026 10:52

Loads of kids would be my worst nightmare.

Mine too.

I actually like Jamie Oliver, I watch his programs and have a lot of his books. But I imagine even with all the childcare and help in the world, being married to someone who has such a high profile as he does would be difficult. I imagine there have times (and quite a lot of them) where he's put his work first and been absent for long periods. That can't have been easy for her.

VeterinaryCareAssistant · 16/10/2026 11:56

I've got more kids than her so if she is a sahm but still employs cleaners and nannies she's laughing.

Well said.

I feel sorry women who only feel fulfilled by having children. There is much more to life than reproducing.

I bet these are the same women who sob all summer at the thought of their adult DC leaving to go to university. I can't imagine living like that.

OneoftheWeddingPeople · 16/10/2026 12:03

Think it was Fay Weldon that wrote “life is for living not just passing on” totally agree. However wealthy there is no way I would want more than 2 kids. I want to live my own life not just be scurrying round after other people.

I never understand women who are so invested in the fertility choices of others or seem to think having kids somehow makes them more superior or more "fufilled".

I have kids and I have plenty of friends and even friends of my parents who don't have kids. I can't say I've ever given it a second thought. They have their life and I have mine and we're all content and happy with what we have. I don't think any group feels more fulfilled than the other!

dancehysterical22 · 16/10/2026 12:29

I thought you were talking about Jools Holland 😂

nomoreforks · 16/10/2026 12:33

I like her a lot! While she doesn't have to worry about money, I think that her life is not perfect at all. She is in the public eye which must be pretty stressful as people will randomly say horrible things about you on-line. Saw Jamie Oliver in real life and he didn't seem particularly nice (unlike his online persona) but i am guessing that he is a decent person and he has done some really good things (school dinners etc..), I think that his heart is in the right place. These celebs are all real peopl with faults etc..

I wouldn't normally, but her posts were quite rude about kids and feeling sorry for people that do have them and how awful it must be. Why is it ok to say that about kids and people who do/did want children, but not to say how my life changed after having Dc? It's ok to want children and like them!

But some people do feel like that and there's nothing wrong with that-you saying that is also very rude

I think you should remember how many women suffering from infertility are on these boards.

Mean no upset to them at all

Life can be fulfilling with or without children. Life is, as they say, what you make it.

Exactly. I couldn’t have children due to fertility issues. For a long time I did feel my life was empty and pointless until I got to a point where I didn’t want to feel like that anymore and realised I could fill my life with pretty much anything I wanted. I’m 65 now and content and at peace.

It isn't at all. So sorry X
I was just responding to rude messages about feeling sorry for people with kids and how life is much better without etc
I didn't want this thread to go off topic
