To think Jools has the perfect life

Jools Oliver

Lots of kids, with partner since very young, lots of money, beautiful home.
I realise no one's life is perfect, but it seems ideal. Found love early, no rubbish men or heartbreak or loneliness of being alone and struggling. loads of kids and a loving, large family there as you get older, no money worries or having to work unless you want to, amazing countryside home

Am envious!

You have to remember that these people show us a perfect life, because that's what they want us to see. There will be plenty of struggles in her life, like there are in everyone's.

Obviously I'm not privy to details of their private life.

I would say the clothing collection she created (based on designs from the 70s/80s and patterns from her own childhood) was phenomenal and unlike anything else that was sold on the high street at the time.

I bought several pieces for DCs (including cot linen) and the quality and whimsy was unmatched.

Yes the clothes were really nice

Crazy to envy someone else's, ife when you have no idea what on earth could be going on there

I suspect this too - a great life on paper isn’t always what it seems - but then again it may be fab and he’s an easy going cheery guy to live with -who knows! My mum once said - at least a guy who is hard going but rich brings ‘options in life and choices ’ to the table and ‘annoyances in comfort’ and she had a point albeit a bit mercenary

Wise words from your mum 😁 might as well be miserable rich than miserable poor (not that Jools is of course, I don’t know her).

DaringlyDizzy · 15/10/2026 14:37

There are so many versions of happy!
I was a looked-after child and have craved love, stability and multiple children, my whole life. Only to marry an abusive man that nearly killed me, have the one child (and unlikely to be able to conceive again) and am now divorced but post-seperation abuse is terrible and I am unable to find love again for a long while (lots of healing to do first, want to give my son as much time as possible as this has been hard on him too etc).

In my case Jools has the perfect life and everything I ever dreamed of. I would do anything to have a good man and lots of kids.

I am have a wonderful life (minus the abuse and its continuing mental fallout). Friends, I travel, my own home, a career. But kids and love is what I always craved and I would take having a lot less material items if it meant peace and love with the right man

Ah now Gordon Ramsey? totally get that.

I bet he'd be incredible in bed - really sweary and dirty

lol 😂

What an unpleasant post

Isn’t it! Crotch goblins is such an odd (and quite ridiculous) expression. If it means children then that poster and everyone else are/were.

Money doesn't protect you from the worries that children can bring.
I wish her well.
Self made businesses involve hard work and sacrifice, money too, sure, but huge sacrifice too.

My sister is very very wealthy.
Her husband was never around.
She raised the children on her own, with him in the background.
She is now involved in the business as her children are now all adults.
Yes they are extremely wealthy, but I wouldn't swap the last 25 years with her for anything.
She had it hard raising 5 children with a husband floating about like Billy Big Bollix in the background.
I doubt he EVER looked after his children alone, even once, when young.
He made sure he was far too busy with work, even on the weekends.

Chefs do work long hours tbf so she knew it would fall on her. I wonder if he's autistic too bearing in mind all 5 are autistic

allthingsinmoderation · 15/10/2026 14:47

I thinks its impossible to know what Jools life is really like and judging by what we are shown may not give the whole picture. She had 5 miscarriages and one was nearly fatal so shes definitely not had an easy time. I hope she does have a lovely life though.

thecatneuterer · 15/10/2026 14:48

That's a life that would have made me miserable. I can't think of much worse than having children. Countless dialliances with unsuitable men was a huge amount of fun which I would hate to have missed. Likewise the freedom to dance till dawn for decades. Her life sounds unpleasant and dull to me. We all want different things from life.

OneoftheWeddingPeople · 15/10/2026 14:50

No way would I want that many kids even if money were no object. What I hadn’t fully appreciated with kids is they you always worry for them and hope they are ok. When they are little you have some control but that goes. It’s bad enough worrying two are ok going out into the world any more would blow my mind. No thanks.

beautifuIstranger · 15/10/2026 14:14

Urgh exactly - a day of that and I'd be ready to poke his eyes out with a spoon

😂

Imseriouslyyouguys · 15/10/2026 15:15

Seems like she made having babies her whole personality. Was still trying to get pregnant in her late 40s despite having 5 existing children of all ages.

I don’t envy feeling like you have no purpose other than being a mother and needing to produce the next child to keep justifying that.

whyohwhyohwhyohwhyohwhyohwhy · 15/10/2026 15:16

Nope, seems boring. Rich but boring.

Thegirlwhowent · 15/10/2026 15:21

Being married to Jamie Oliver sounds like a nightmare to me!

I agree. You never stop worrying about them. Mine are in their 40s now and they are okay, but whenever they suffer a setback, I feel it like a pain.

Thegirlwhowent · 15/10/2026 15:28

Remember that you don't see any of the downsides when you see famous people on TV. They only show you what they want to reveal. How often are we shocked when an apparently perfect couple split up, or their offspring turn out not to be so perfect after all?

bababamama · 15/10/2026 15:35

Met her once at an event I was coordinating, seemed very nice, met him too and he was really down to earth. Their kids seem to be relatively level headed, ones a nurse, one works in marketing or pr or something, others are at school. In fact there seems to be a trend among the celebrity chefs to encourage their dc into proper jobs, one of Gordon Ramsay’s is a police officer and one is in the marines, not an easy option! It’s hard work to be a chef even once you get a tv slot

gobbledoops · 15/10/2026 15:52

I thought you meant Jools Holland and was really excited to hear more. I bet he has a great life

I did this for a long time too, but it gets a bit old in the end and you start to know there's more important things in life

One things I've learnt is that what things look like on the outside isn't always what they are like on the inside. Also, I enjoy having my own career and expertise.

He has had affairs, one after another.

Edited

I’ve never once seen anything in the press or online about him having any affairs, so I’m interested to know where you get that “knowledge” from.

She's married to Jamie Oliver though. Seems like a megalomaniac to me. No room for her in that marriage. This is obviously based on the same thing you can see, which is public image and no knowledge of what their lives are actually like!!

I have a close friend who knows him really well. By all accounts he is really decent, very personable, no ego, and adores Jools
