I am sick of the reform rhetoric spreading into every little thing that happens

In my town, three things have happened in the last week:

  1. a border force boat was spotted refuelling in the harbour
  2. a coach was seen at Sainsbury’s petrol station
  3. some Asian men were seen at a local hotel

Now each of these things have innocent explanations:

  1. the boat was quite literally just refuelling
  2. it was a school coach at a petrol station
  3. theyre a Bollywood film crew filming at a local beach. Said local beach is closed and they’re filming overnight, so needed somewhere to stay.

But of course, the racist reform nuts have decided that the border force is “shipping” migrants straight to us and bussing them in (it’s either one or the other surely? They’re either delivering them by boat or coach 🙄) and people are now making threats against the general manager of the hotel where the film crew have been staying. Apparently people have been going into the hotel and questioning the manager about the people staying there and what they’re doing there.

im sick of it. Never mind the fact that it would be impossible for the small boats to get across the channel to us, these are all innocent things. But the reform rhetoric has spread to the point that people who aren’t white can’t even stay in a hotel without people getting angry and threatening violence. It’s disgusting.

Where are you getting your news from?

Just do a Google search and you will see that that is exactly what he said.

I don't use social media apart from MN So the interview would have been on the television news either BBC or ITV.

He is talking about fair share. Not about hating middle class or working class.

Andy Burnham is wearing glasses, a dark-coloured suit jacket, white shirt and a tie. He has a short, dark hair.

Poorest areas should not house all asylum seekers, says Andy Burnham

The prime minister was asked about protests over plans to use a former military base to house asylum seekers.

Yes, that was me saying that he hates MC people not him!

I know Burham is stupid but even he isn't stupid enough to admit the truth and say that he hates MC people!

BIossomtoes · Today 21:43

Given that he’s as middle class as they come that would indeed be odd.

Well maybe people will get their wish and he’ll share the load nearby accordingly.

Do you think the poorest areas should bear the brunt then?

Not really.

He is white and he doesn't care about white working class people so why should he care about MC people.

No way.

I think the areas that vote Green should get them all as they want them.

He keeps going on about devolution, but that doesn't extend to people have a choice about HMOs of course.

My town is now patrolled by ‘patriots’ gangs of balaclava wearing men in black roaming the park - apparently it’s to keep me safe - still it gives their wives/GFs/kids a night off

I work with separated children aged 16-25 and, like the poster further ups DD, have never been shown anything but respect

Interestingly, a nearby town had a case this week where a group of men were sentenced as part of an organised sexual abuse gang - oddly no protests or flag waving - they were all white

I think some voting Labour will too, mn shows that. But it makes sense to use areas where people are keen.

That was what Reform suggested as well.

If posters are saying how dare you object, I wouldn’t object I’d be welcoming, then why not those areas

DuncinToffee · Today 21:59

The OP was spot on.

Not at all. It’s great if people are keen.

So what do you think that the person who has all those hmos on her street should do?

She is so desperate that she's thinking of leaving the country.

How is that possibly fair?

Don't you have any sympathy for her?

Edited

I don't have any sympathy for someone who claims that they are planning to leave the country because there are asylum seekers on their street.

Surely if someone feels that badly about it, they would just move to a different street?

And before someone jumps in to tell me that she might not be able to afford to move, I am sorry, I don't buy it. If you can afford to move to a different country, then you can afford to move to a different street.

It's all just melodramatic nonsense. Setting aside the irony in saying that you want to become an immigrant in another country because you don't like having immigrants in your own.

the op lives a completely different life to me. Reform has very little influence. Get out more and watch less tv

It’s great that some are a yes. Why spend time castigating just offer up your areas instead.

I don't need to offer up my area. There are asylum seekers here already.

Great, it sounds like that’s worked out well already. If a sizeable number feel the same in the general population then match dispersal accommodation to the areas where people are for it.

All the castigating and you can’t object will dissipate. Those who are keen to support can.

I feel far more threatened by white British males. I get a lot of Ubers, and 99% of the drivers are Pakistani or African. All of them are male. The only driver I’ve ever felt unsafe with was the one solitary white British guy a week ago. He had those angry, racist vibes. I couldn’t wait to get out of the car.

And if I said that to the ‘protect our women and girls’ lot, they’d ridicule me, belittle me, and call me a pathetic leftie whose opinion doesn’t count.

I hate it.
