To find it worrying what the BBC chooses not to report?

You wouldn't know it, if you got your news from the BBC, that there's been a pro-pal march through London today. 6 marchers were arrested and the Battle of Britain memorial was damaged.
Nothing on the BBC website. Nothing on News at 10.
Is it only me that finds this disturbing?

Antisemites are incapable of applying their so called decency and morality across the board. They are only ever interested in shouting the loudest. Empty vessels tend to do that.

The BBC have been biased and selective in their reporting for years.

But then hopefully no one only gets their news from one source anymore.

100% agree - a lot of extremely informative and relevant news seems to be, oddly, 'missed' by the BBC yet we are all expected to pay the license fee to view their bias (plus, strangely, any other live broadcast despite it having absolutely nothing to do with them and said broadcast receiving none of the license fee)

Antisemitism and anti-Zionism are not mutually exclusive. The fact you believe they are is an example of you being unable to have a logical discussion.

I haven't paid for the biased Corporation for a few years. Leftie plants on Question Time isn't worthy of a hefty yearly fee.

Well as you clearly don't care that your posts have outed themselves as being racist, you won't care either that you ignorantly believe there's a difference between the two terms.

being anti Zionist isn’t being racist or antisemitic, you’re just wrong

LuckyHazelFox · 11/10/2026 16:07

Nope I am perfectly correct. I'm also not ansemitic and don't believe all Jews deserve death so another religion can take their place. That would make me a very sick fuck.

Oh yes, get your news from YouTube and GB News! Much better sources 🙄

What?? The poster didn't say that did they. Such a cliché.

BigFatLiar · 11/10/2026 16:07

I think you may overestimate how much people care about it. While the situation in the middle east may be bad it's not a priority for everyone. Its an issue for all news channels, only so much time and they need to squeeze the news into it.

I think for many the main point of interest a demonstration has is 'is it going to inconvenience me'

Yes, every time on the bingo card.

20 arrests, I wish they’d all keep these arguments where they are. London police should not be wasting resources on these endless marches about a,b,c,y 🙄

It's exactly the same before any edition of Question Time - a quick trawl of Facebook or Twitter will show half saying the BBC is full of commies, the other half saying it's full of Nazis.
My Tory councillor friend refuses to believe that people could possibly think the BBC is too right wing. My dyed-in-the-wool lefty friends refuse to believe that anyone could possibly think that the BBC is too left wing.
I'm a former radical lefty (only slightly tempered down over the years) - and I'm fully confident that the Beeb does what it should do, in terms of reporting. It is, quite rightly, seen worldwide as a trustworthy source of news. We lose it at our peril. It would be shooting ourselves in the foot, leg, arm and head.

Exactly. It would be hilarious if people weren't so full of hate

Cleo65 · 11/10/2026 18:27

The BBC only broadcasts what the government direct, they're not remotely independent & are wholly biased.

What, do thay send them an email every day saying 'use this, don't use that'? The BBC is incredibly open about how news is chosen and prioritised. It often includes things highly critical of incumbent governments.
Or perhaps you can show us something to back up your fantasy conspiracy theory?

frenchnoodle · 11/10/2026 21:45

To be fair, the BBC do have very restrictive standards of what can be discussed including how things are phrased by presenters, there have been a couple of examples, one relatively recently of presenters being punished for not using guidelined phrases (Pregnant people and so on). Guests get a little bit more leeway, but even then things like being forced to wear a poppy before appearing on air, which happened to Reginald D Hunter, on an episode of Have I Got News for you years ago.

The BBC? If you think that would you want to see it scrapped or funding by subscription?

I would call it war, one that Hamas started. ‘Genocide’ has a clear definition that implies a clear intention to destroy an ethnic group in whole or in part.
War is always horrendous, that doesn’t automatically make it a genocide.

Your post also contradicts itself. On one hand, you invoke the antisemitic trope of countries being 'too scared to upset the Jews', not even resorting to the usual ‘Zionists’ euphemism.

On the other, you claim Jewish populations in London and New York are actively protesting, so they’re not some all-powerful monolith after all.

Martymcfly24 · 11/10/2026 14:12

Just your friendly reminder that just because an influencer posted it on social media does not make it true .

The population of the Gaza Strip has decreased by roughly 6% to 10% since late 2023, dropping from an estimated pre-war total of about 2.2 million down to approximately 2.1 million to 2.13 million people.

Yes, because of the war that Hamas chose to initiate.

Agree. Just the usual debate-terminating tactic, so tedious.

Careful calling it a genocide (what it is) because you’ll get your comment reported for anti semitism. It’s clear where mumsnet stands here. (I’ll wait for this to also get deleted)
