To find it worrying what the BBC chooses not to report?

You wouldn't know it, if you got your news from the BBC, that there's been a pro-pal march through London today. 6 marchers were arrested and the Battle of Britain memorial was damaged.
Nothing on the BBC website. Nothing on News at 10.
Is it only me that finds this disturbing?

Just your friendly reminder that just because an influencer posted it on social media does not make it true .

The population of the Gaza Strip has decreased by roughly 6% to 10% since late 2023, dropping from an estimated pre-war total of about 2.2 million down to approximately 2.1 million to 2.13 million people.

You can’t expect these types to be logical or find real evidence

I used to work at The BBC, and had access to the overnight complaints logs - about half complained they were too right wing, and half complained they were too left wing.

Can’t win

Well you can win. Just report what's actually happening in the world and keep emotive language and opinion out of the reports.

No I have zero interest in Palestine personally

You’re brave

Nope graphs is silly but true

Date you show is counted Palestinians only within their designated 'secure' (militarily approved population enclaves; meaning controlled by the IDF) zones

However Hamas themselves in 2025 provided figures that show a rise in population during that time.

2026 figures figures will be lower because of population is fairly rapidly getting moved off the land via educational and medical routes. Thousands of people have basically moved to safer countries at this point, whether they come back or not and whether we regard that as ethnic cleansing in tbe future is up for debate.

Totally agree

The BBC should never have got themselves in a position where integrity was up for debate

It’s not Pal, it’s Palestine. No need to reduce their identity.

Do you think this is worthy of respect then?

The Palestinian people, women and children who are being murdered by Israeli state sponsored terrorists? Yeh they are worthy of respect and so are those who are brave enough to stand up to Israel and their puppet governments in the West.

anniegun · 11/10/2026 15:20

For months they couldnt face reporting that Israel was killing children and other inncocent civilians.

I agree but how does the mob in London help anyone. They are just a mob looking to cause trouble.

Every protest gets these people, it doesn’t represent the cause especially when it’s such a small percentage. It’s a non issue in the grand scheme of humanitarian crises.

No need for Jews' identity to be reduced either. Shame it's still happening 3 years on.

TidyRose · 11/10/2026 15:34

@HappyLizard23 I do not accept the idea that it's just a small minority that cause trouble. After one of these demos you can see and hear them on the train boasting. Most of them went for a ruck.

It's not crises though, it's only one particular crisis that gets backs up. Muslim killing Muslims doesn't somehow seem to attract the same angst.

Says it all about them, damaging a memorial to mean and women who sacrificed their lives fighting fascism

Yes I thought the same.

I don't see any marches like this against the war against Iran or about what's happening in Ukraine or about the shocking sex (not gender) apartheid in Afghanistan.

Can't think why it's only Palestine that attracts all the attention.

As for the BBC, as long as left and right alike are complaining they are too right or left - they can't be doing anything too wrong.

It's exactly the same before any edition of Question Time - a quick trawl of Facebook or Twitter will show half saying the BBC is full of commies, the other half saying it's full of Nazis.
My Tory councillor friend refuses to believe that people could possibly think the BBC is too right wing. My dyed-in-the-wool lefty friends refuse to believe that anyone could possibly think that the BBC is too left wing.
I'm a former radical lefty (only slightly tempered down over the years) - and I'm fully confident that the Beeb does what it should do, in terms of reporting. It is, quite rightly, seen worldwide as a trustworthy source of news. We lose it at our peril. It would be shooting ourselves in the foot, leg, arm and head.

Can I ask what statistics you mean because from the link from Hamas in 2025 the "Population of Gaza Strip Declined by 10.6% in Two Years"

@HappyLizard23 So you don't believe in the self determination and right for Jews to live peacefully or live at all safely, as you do for Palestinians. I thought so. You're one of "them".

Rinkworth · 11/10/2026 15:52

It would be interesting to find out where everyone actually gets their news now. Who to trust?

you won’t be able to have a sensible discussion with me so you can believe whatever you wish. I think Israel is an apartheid state that is committing a genocide. I don’t think anything in particular about Jewish people as individuals for an ethnic-religious group.

You're right, there's no sense in discussing anything with those who don't know or care what zionism means. I do see that you're displaying this ignorance as a badge of honour.

Zionists are incapable of logical thinking or sensible discussion. I see it time and time again.
