Though there is a film on this premise, I dont remember all the specifics but it was like.. you get a box and if you open it or press the button in it.. something like that you get $1 million, but someone you dont know dies. You get the box for like 24hrs or something to decide.

And at the end if the film the box is collected from the current family who have it.. and theyre told the box is going to the next person on the list.... but dont worry its no one they know

I think it's totally natural and expected to put loved ones before strangers, I wouldn't feel great about it, though.

I would like to think my children are good moral people so the answer would have to be no. If someone did this for me the rest of my existence would be doomed as I'd never get over the guilt, because I care about other humans and i could never take a life willingly. I would hope my children feel the same, and by choosing to do the right thing I'd be sentencing them to death but also saving them from a future of mental torture. The choice is a lose / lose.
