Altercation in carpark

Icecreamsundaz · 05/10/2026 13:30

I was in a supermarket carpark, I had put my baby in her carseat and had just loaded my groceries in the boot. A car parked in the parent and child space next to me and an older couple got out, early 70s I would guess, able bodied, no kids with them
I said "sorry do you realise thats s parent and child space" and I pointed to the markings.
Well his response was very rude in tone "I came here to do my shopping, not to dance around" ?? "It should be first come first served " and they stormed off. I was a bit taken aback, I said loudly but they were a bit away at this point so not sure if they heard me "god id hate to be so ignorant". I took a picture of their car. Not really sure what I was going to do with it, thinking I would think about it and perhaps report to management. I got into my car
The next he was at my window "you took a photo, its illeageal to take photos of other people's property, delete it." I ensured my doors were locked, he stood behind my car so I couldn't reverse out, she was at my windscreen taking photos of me. Eventually they moved and I got out.
Maybe I shouldn't have said anything but there were loads of other places they could have parked but the parent and child spaces are limited. Its very frustrating when I've all my kids and can't find a free parent and child space because people like this who dont need them take them and they don't give a shit

Have you been drinking?
You’ve asked me this multiple times and I have already answered you.

I haven’t asked whether you’ve experienced it multiple times? 😕

Yes you have. And you’ve asked if I’ve spoken about to friends in real life multiple times.

That sounds like the mums walk to the supermarket together, as they only buy one item.

So they wouldn't have a car with them or need a parking space.

The “are you drunk” is always a very poor arguement.

Doesn’t even make sense
I never asked if this happened multiple times to @Thedevilhasfinallycaughtupwithhim

It just really seems to me be something that really impacts her quite badly

i asked if whinging and bitching

I never asked if this happened multiple times

Thedevilhasfinallycaughtupwithhim · 06/10/2026 17:26

but I will answer you again and with more detail…

YES I have experienced it but I no longer use the spaces because my youngest 5.

YES I have spoken to friends about this in real life. My friend with newborn twins often complains about it being a problem for her.

Happened multiple times? As in really did pee you off as a regular occurrence?

So it’s not that you rarely see prams in supermarkets, it’s that you don’t know for certain which mode of transport they’ve used and for that reason we shouldn’t have P&C spaces.

I still rarely see prams in supermarkets, is that ok? Or are you going to disbelieve me again and produce some 17 month old random post as “proof”, I don’t think it’s really a relevant proof of real life, do you?

Patioplant · 06/10/2026 17:28

Suggest that whilst she has new born twins might be better to do online grocery shops!

You’re right actually
can’t recall last night I saw someone doing a food shop around Sainsbury’s with a pram

It’s literally a reasonable adjustment, which I have explained as well.

Yep. I suspect the goal is to goad me into saying something to get me deleted. Not falling for it and not engaging with it any more.😂

I think people who have a need, whether it's a disability or a mobility issue, should be able to park in P&C bays without having children present.

Edit: to clarify, I'm not the disability outreach worker.

Edited

Well why else would you go on and on about something that I clarified several times ?

Some people just gotta find something to moan about in life!

Exactly!

LikeWhoUsesTypewritersAnyway · 06/10/2026 17:40

The 'we can't get a pram between the cars in 'normal' spaces' line is just another load of bluster from the parent and child space brigade to try to further back up their argument that NO-ONE should use the parent and child spaces except THEM!!!!!! 😠 Even people with disabilities and the elderly. Even if there are NO disabled spaces available, and 20 parent and child spaces are available.

NO-ONE SHALL USE THE HALLOWED PARENT AND CHILD SPACES. Except people with someone under 15 with them!

Can't get a pram between the spaces! LOL!!! Who pushes a pram around the car park?! Come ON! You're losing the argument with every word peeps! 😆

I will bet six months salary that these people wouldn't use the parent and child spaces if they were at the far side of the car park. 😎

Seriously, before the thread is full, you must live a blessed life if something so trivial bothers you SO much! (Elderly people using a parent and child space, when there are loads more available.)

I believe the phrase is 'get a life!'
