I am my employer.

Did your employer not make employer contributions? Were you part of the local government pension scheme? Or were you a local government employee that had a private pension instead.

I mean it doesnt really matter what you individually had anyway. Public sector pensions are underwritten by the tax payer which was my original point. Apart from perhaps yours apparently. The exception to the rule so doesn't really help. And again I make not comment on whether this is a good or bad thing. So we will leave it there.

Why didn't you get a job with the LA or everyone with a complaint get employment with a LA. I knew from the 70s/80s that a job with the 'council' as it was referred to then, brought with it a good pension scheme. Why didn't you all apply? There's been plenty of jobs in the past, maybe not now but I'm assuming you're all adults. I'm not talking top civil service jobs , I'm talking about the care assistants or cleaners, the lower end if you like, which if you'd stuck at it would have given you a decent pension when you retired. I started cleaning and washing up in a Council care home, part time, then onto home care then onto mobile warden until retiring at 67. Ive dealt with the soiled beds and people, the dementia, the broken bones from falls and gashed heads, the alcoholics and the lost. You too could have had a job like mine and then you'd have had a good enough pension.

I think youre directing this to the wrong person? As I've said a few times already, I haven't made any comment or complaint on whether the pension system is good or bad. Just been discussing the facts as to who finances and underwrites public sector pensions, which was relevant quite a way upthread but has probably been done to death now?

Because of your insistence of how LA pensions are paid. We know how they're paid and millions of others know too. So what? Just letting you know you too could have had one....you and others on this thread if only you'd applied for a job with the LA.

It would be one of my worst nightmares working for LAs/councils/civil service etc. You don't have to have represented them to be allowed an opinion. It's the same cop out response to criticising teachers when you're told to go and do the job yourself.

And we're allowed to defend our pensions if we've worked for the LA.

That wasn't really the point I was discussing up thread though? It wasn't really an insistence. It was just being factual as some people didn't know. No need to be defensive. I'm not judging the pension system.

I didn't suggest otherwise.
