What would the Left call the Right, if the small boat people were white?

I'll start by saying, I am very anti open boarders, and I am horrified that so many illegal immigrants are arriving every day. But for me, it has absolutely nothing to do with skin colour, it is more to do with :

ONE) They have no documentation, and we have no idea if they have criminal backgrounds

TWO) They tend to come from cultures where women are not respected

THREE) They often come from places where rape is not a crime

FOUR) They cannot work, and it is costing Millions to house, feed and clothe them

FIVE) We are granting asylum to some people who should never get it - like the Hamas bodyguard we heard of yesterday

Lots of valid reasons I feel, however, for me, it has nothing to do with skin colour. If I had to be locked in a room overnight with a white man from a backward culture, or a black man from the UK, I would choose the latter, every single time.

It isn't colour, it's culture

But I see that people on the Far Left just scream "Racist" to anyone who opposes illegal immigration. What would they scream, if all the small boats were full of white men? And would people still march for England?

I think some of the posts which do just attack the pp are a sign they know it will change, it’s a last hurrah against that.

What will change? What are you talking about now?

Disagreeing with you is not 'trolling' @Somerford.

If you come on a mainly female, multi-cultural internet forum in an attempt to amass consensus that migrants are sex offenders (or more likely to be sex offenders), you should expect to be challenged.

This is not a specific section on Reddit or the Daily Mail comments section where people will just chime in. it's AIBU. I happen to think most of you are 'U.' And that shouldn't come as a such massive shock to you.

The posters disagreeing with you are women.

What will change? You mean the small boats crossings will stop? Great - we all want to see this. How would you advise the govt to stop the boats then?

I said "you choose to spend your time trolling and dishing our personal abuse". You said "first thing you've said that I agree with".

Now within minutes you say its all genuine challenge and disagreement.

I didn’t say we were on a par with Afghanistan for human rights. You are conflating two distinct points.
I agree that countries like afghanistan under the taliban are awful and unsafe for people. that’s the reason they people are leaving and seeking asylum in uneven first place. If those countries were safe people wouldn’t feel the need to leave.
My comments about the safety for women/lgbtq in this country were in response to the OPs reasoning for why she doesn’t want refugees here. She implied that women and lgbtq people are safe here as long as we keep out immigrants: my point was that is not true. Pretending that keeping out immigrants will make us all nice and safe is just not supported by the facts.

A quarter of the population have an immigrant background already.

No they literally aren't.

They literally are. They don't have their passport and documents. They aren't entering at a designated port. Do they have their ETA or a visa allowing them entry?

So many countries are shifting politically on this I expect those who don’t want change will resort to insults online for a while as an attempt to halt that.

I expect after those countries do get change as Australia did hardly anyone would go back to this chaos and no party will run on returning to crossings or deaths at sea.

Brokentoes85 · 05/10/2026 10:33

Because they were fleeing for their lives? And not having a passport doesn't make you an illegal immigrant

From France?

Forgive me for glossing over some of your posts. If you need to think I'm a troll because I asked you for the meaning of 'leftist ideology,' well, whatever helps you, I guess.

Of course they wouldn’t. Nobody wants people risking their lives crossing the channel in small boats. The attempt to stop it has led to a 43% reduction in a year. I don’t know a single person who doesn’t want it to fall still further. Motivation for wanting it to stop differs - mine is wanting a safe, legal route for asylum seekers and I’d definitely vote for that.

Good stuff. That’s a start. You are on the decreasing side though. Just generally looking at political shifts across various countries.

I am not on a 'side.' Radical idea I know.

When did you start believing everyone could only think in terms of 'sides.'

Harry12345 · 05/10/2026 11:33

TheOriginalEmu · 05/10/2026 10:31

I don’t think it’s much of an issue as people are whipping people up to believe. I don’t think all, or the majority of immigrants are coming here with the motive of abusing women. The vast majority of abusers are men you live with, the majority percentage of abusers in the u.k. are white british born men. I think that most asylum seekers are people who oppose the actions of the taliban and other extremists and don’t think that way.

Says who? Is that just your thoughts? No one is saying they come here to abuse woman but the chances are much higher due to their culture. You should try working in social care and housing and you will see first hand how different lots of asylum seekers attitudes are towards woman. There’s a family with 7 children, the mum not allowed to work, the family have mh problems and disabilities and the dad has just been arrested for assaulting a 14 years old. Yes that can happen with uk born families but do you not care about the housing, nhs, social care, education and policing costs that one family are using of tax payers money whilst middle earners are working themselves to the bone and hardly affording a holiday or meal out, can’t get an nhs app and the roads and social care services are a disgrace

If you say so. The key part is all these deflections will fade away (yours and similar posts) and since ‘everyone’ wants something to change, it will. Your posts on people not caring irl won’t stack up.

Finally after a few years of some resorting to abuse at women who bring this topic up it will change and no one will run on going back to the chaos in place now.

storyinside · 05/10/2026 11:42

Again, what will change? Do you mean immigration will stop altogether? Why not just say what you mean?
